Want to turn the clock back several decades to 1969? Standing in the presence of this Chevelle does just that. Although it looks great in the photographs, they can't quite convey its stunning visual impact when seen in person. It appears to be a new 1969 Chevelle with just 1800 miles on the odometer, as only 300 miles per year have been driven since its meticulous restoration was completed several years ago. The paint is spectacular; Fathom green metallic over a body that had been media blasted to bare metal as documented in the photos. The car was then reassembled with ALL new components including all wiring, bushings, suspension components and every last nut and bolt. Look at the photos. The car is all new. The drivetrain is completely rebuilt. The under side of the car as can be seen, was restored to the same extraordinary finish standard as the exterior. The engine compartment received the same treatment and I will say that you will never see a nicer engine compartment on a competing late 60's Chevelle. GM did not make them this nice. The drive line consists of a period correct BB 454 with all the upgrades a well heeled original purchaser would have applied to increase performance including HEI, stainless steel headers((full three inch stainless steel all the way back), Lunatti "voodoo" cam with .545 lift and a great sounding idle, higher performance ignition wires, etc. The engine compatment still retains a stock appearance right down to the Gm date coded hoses and original "tower" type clamps throughout. Actual performance exceeds that of an original LS-6, yet runs on today's gas and never needs valve lash adjustment. The transmission is a correct turbo 400 with butter smooth performance and shift points. The rear gear assembly is the tried and true Chevy 12 bolt positraction in the popular 3.73 ratio, a winner back in the day and still performs well around town and on the highway today.. This particular Chevelle is highly optioned for a muscle car of the era and at least to me has an ideal set of optional accessories that include power windows, power steering and power disc (front) brakes, tilt adjustable steering wheel, GM Frigidaire air conditioning, (a welcome option on those hot summer days), the full SS performance gauge package including the 5800 rpm tachometer, original AM radio with front and rear speaker, GM seat belts front and rear and full green tint on all glass as provided on AC equipped vehicles and finally, bucket seats.
