Vehicle Detail
1968 Oldsmobile 442 Convertible. Original Numbers Matching 400. Motor rebuilt less than 2,000 miles ago. New TH400 Tran replaced with only a couple hundred miles on it last year. I have the original case that is matching numbers also. It was damaged inside and couldn't be repaired from the reverse servo coming apart. The following are the new parts and work done during the light restoration/ freshing up. - New teal frost paint job which is the original correct paint code this car left the factory with. The paint was done by the top shop in this area. The only rust repair was a 1 inch by 2 inch spot in the drivers floor pan and a small amount on the front lower quarter panels by the door which is common on GM A bodys. The repair was all metal work. No bondo. The side stripe is correct and painted on under the clear coat. The underside of the hood and the trunk area is correctly painted as well. All the weatherstripping was replaced with new. -New top and interior panels installed by local interior shop. New carpet, steering wheel, ignition switch, window cranks, door handles, convertible top boot. Under the new carpet floor pans were coated with por 15 and dynamat panels installed for added insulation and sound deadening. It making a big difference over not having them. -New gas tank and sending unit. Also installed with the original type rubber insulation mat between the body and tank. -Frame Painted chassis Black as well -All the trim and chrome were replaced with new except the pieces that run down around the windshield, wheel well trim and the long pieces that go along the rear quarter panels. This includes new Bumpers and exhaust tips. T-8 headlights, All the lenses and bezels as well. New winshield wipers and arms. Door lock cylinders and handles, side mirror. -New CCP front disk brake conversion kit installed. Included new master cylinder and booster, front lines, proportioning valve, Spindles, calibers and rotors. The car stops on a dime and makes it so much more enjoyable to drive knowing it will stop when you need it to. The front end was aligned and had a lower ball joint replaced. The rest of the front end parts are not that old. It drives straight and stops perfect. No i do not have the original drum parts. - New quick ratio steering box. -Original exhaust manifolds with new exhaust pipes and mufflers. Very nice sound. Not too loud but not too quiet. - All the Gauges and lights work properly Horn and reverse lights also. The headlight switch occasionally needs to be jiggled but i have a new switch in the box that will be included. - The wheels and tires were recently purchased. American Racing wheels. I have the original ones but they were in really bad shape and 1 had a damaged lip that prevented it from holding air. - This is the QR 325 hp engine. Very strong and runs out great. I wouldn't hesitate to go on a long road trip with this car. The carburetor is numbers correct. - The previous owner purchased this car from south carolina and lived in georgia for many years before i purchased it from him in 2008. - There are 2 small chips in the paint where the hood closes on the passengers side quarter panel. The video shows it that i have linked. I tried to link my youtube videos i made to show this car better but it won't work. My channel is LS6454. go on and search for it to find the videos.
