Vehicle Detail
1969 AMC Javelin SST in good condition. I’m the 3rd owner of the car. The previous two owners where a father and daughter, and the father purchased the car new. Originally the car had a 289 V8 with a 3 speed automatic shift. I rebuilt a 360 AMC V8 and dropped it in, and converted the car to a 5 speed manual transmission, which is a refurbished Mustang 5.0 transmission. I had a race car mechanic at Sears Point (now Sonoma) Raceway help rebuild the 360 engine. We bored the cylinders, put in performance rockers, performance cam and a 4 barrel Edelbrock carburetor. The engine pumps out a ton of power and the car really hauls ass. The transmission works great, it gives a good low end gear for taking off, and the 5th gear allows you to coast at low RPM’s on the freeway. But the speedometer gear in the transmission doesn’t sync with the stock AMC speedometer properly, so the mileage doesn’t record accurately. Mileage: Roughly 45K miles on current engine. I bought it in 1995, put the new engine in 1996, drove it fairly regularly until 2000, when I moved to New York, and it’s mostly been sitting in a garage since then except for driving it for a bit when I’m home for a week during the holidays, and driven around the block every few months by my father. The previous engine had a little over 200,000 miles on it. I love the car, but I just moved to Ecuador, and since it’s not being driven, I figured it’s time to sell. When I purchased the car it was in near stock condition. This is a summary of the modifications I’ve made: Rebuilt the front end - replaced with new bushing and rocker armsNew rims, with wider tires in the backPut extra leaf in rear suspension to raise the back and make room for the larger rimsOriginal paint was a light forest green, but the last owner painted it a slightly darker forest green. You can see the original paint color in the inside of the trunk.Stereo system with 1/8 jack on faceplate so you can plug in a iPod or smartphone to play music. Plus, has an 8 disc CD playerAftermarket tachometer on column OTHER DETAILS: Power steering2.89 Rear End (stock) COMES WITH: Original manualSpare parts: stainless steel trim that goes around the windows, felt window liners
