2004 Mercedes Benz AMG E55 Tectite Grey Original price was $85,000. I have owned the car for almost a year now and sadly I have to sell it as I'm moving to New York for school soon and I need to buy and econobox to car pool to and from campus and as much as I love the E55, a cheap economy car makes the most sense for the next few years until I graduate. The car has almost 170K miles but all of the problem areas have been addressed in these E55's. Brakes rotors and pads replaced about a year ago $1500Transmission, torque converter, motor mounts and transmission mount replaced about 2K miles ago $5000The dreaded Valeo Radiator that leaks coolant into your transmission was replaced about 6 months ago $1000Fuel sender and fuel pump replaced as these are a problem area on all of the Mercedes E class, even the V6 $2000 The previous owner had problems with the Airmatic suspension, so he had the suspension professionally swapped out to a Coil over suspension. This eliminated the constant repairs and high bills associated with the Airmatic. The car handled very well but the ride was very firm. After I purchased the car the firm ride got old so I looked into options. I didn't want the repair bills associated with the Airmatic so I had an independent Mercedes Mechanic swap out all the Coilover suspension with BRAND NEW Mercedes Benz Coil springs and shocks that are designed for a E500 Sport package. The car rides nice and still handles very well and will not give you any problems like the Airmatic. This was all done with Genuine Mercedes Benz parts and nothing aftermarket. The computer has been recoded for the E500 steel spring suspension. Everything was done by a professional. The Supercharger was swapped out with a low milage 60K used one as the pulley was beginning to make some noise and I got a great price on an entire supercharger. So the supercharger, clutch and pulley are all good to go. Even with the high milage, all of the problematic areas have been addressed and this E55 is good to go another 170K. This E55 has had the secondary cats and resonator removed along with a $3000 pair of Renntech headers installed. These headers are so expensive you could swap out some stock exhaust manifolds and sell the headers and make money if you wanted. The stock mufflers are in place with a set of 3" exhaust cut outs welded in before the stock mufflers. The exhaust sounds great and is not too loud with the stock mufflers. I never had a problem with getting the car through emissions because all the computer emissions are turned on, and the primary cats are still in place. The car has never been in a wreck, clear title. INTERIOR: the car is in excellent condition. all power windows, seats and motors work like new. No serious wear. Power rear sun shade works great. Sunroof does not leak and opens like new. No strange smells, car has never been smoked in. Heated and ventilated seats work great. Command factory CD changer and navigation all work. Car has the parktronic option and works great. Floor mats are almost brand new. The drivers seat has a tiny bit of wear on the side bolster but its barely noticeable. People really can't believe this is a 10 year old car when they ride in it. The drivers side mirror the auto dim does not work and it was hard to see out so I had a regular glass mirror attached over top of the auto dimming mirror. The motors still work like new, just the drivers side auto dim is not present. You could swap out the mirror if you wanted but the huge cost associated with this I just kept the "regular mirror" and it has been working fine since. This is not the base E500, but the top of the line AMG version, so all the nice touches like the real Alcantara headliner, there is one tiny spot on the passengers side rear where the headliner is not quite stuck down all the way but you can only notice it if your looking hard. I'm trying to describe every tiny imprecation I can think of so there are not any surprises after buying. EXTERIOR: The only real blemish on the exterior is the previous owner took the car to an automatic car wash and the hood and roof got a few scratches that were touched up. The metal is not pinched and you can only see the blemish if you looking very closely at the reflection. Each scratch is a few inches long. Other than these scratches the car really is in great shape. 2004 was the first year all Mercedes received the special Nano Clearcoat and you can tell. This car is so shiny you can see reflections in the paint almost like its a mirror. The exhaust tips look a little worn, this is the only other blemish on the exterior but you could replace the tips if you wanted or drive it as it is. The factory Bi-Xenon headlights work like new and were restored from their hazy appearance by a shop recently using the 3M headlight restoration kit. This E55 has the optional heated headlight washers that work like new.The front bumper has one small crack on the very bottom near the drivers side but its almost not even noticeable. Rims are in good condition, there are a few curb scrapes but nothing serious. Tires are still in good shape. MECHANICAL: The car starts up every time, does not leak anything from bumper to bumper. No rust at all. Engine idles and runs excellent. Transmission shifts smooth as its almost brand new. Car runs cool, never over heats. No check engine lights. ABS, traction control and stability control all work excellent. Steering is super sharp. All of the gauges work like new. The SBC system has never given me any issues. Air conditioner blows cold, heater works great. PERFORMANCE: This car is pure luxury until you give it some gas. Then its like driving a Dodge Viper except it has stability control to keep you out of a wreck. Your passengers will be blown away by how much power this car has. You really have to ride in a E55 to experience the power of the hand built AMG supercharged V8 and it pins you into your seat. Even factory tuned this car will do a low 12 second quarter mile. You cannot buy a car for under 20K that will go this fast, yet alone be able to carry 4 people in luxury. The car has the stock computer and supercharger pulley right now but I also have a EUROCHARGED upgraded supercharger pulley and computer tune with cable you can purchase for an additional $300 if you desired at the time of vehicle purchase. This package cost close to $1000 when new and will give the E55 even more power if you desire. My asking price is very reasonable, I have spent a lot of money to fix all the problem areas and your getting a really good deal. title in hand, The only way you can get an E55 for less money is if it has issues or a salvaged title. These E55 cars are incredible vehicles in terms of performance and luxury but can be expensive if you buy one that is in need of repairs.
