Vehicle Detail

For auction is a 1966 Mustang Convertible project car. The rebuild was started several years ago but not completed. Due to a move I can no longer store it indoors so rather than see it deteriorate I'd like to sell to someone who can finish restoring or use it to restore another vehicle. It has all of the original body and chasis parts as well as numerous replacement sheet metal parts that will go with the car. Some are already installed and some with just go with it separately. I'm also including a few extras that I bought specifically for this care such as convertible door braces and wheel dollies so it can be rolled around your garage. Those alone cost a few hundred dollars. Between the my cost of the car, replacement parts, and equipment, I have no doubt that my loss will be your gain. About the car: I bought this car in 2005 from a private seller in Houston. It was originally gold but it has been previously painted blue and most recently red. It has quite a bit of rust. The frame rails and rocker panels are well rusted but I've already replaced them on the right side. The right side also has the front/rear torque boxes and front kick panel installed. The front frame rails weren't too bad. I had to patch a small area on those and they're pretty solid now. The original floor plans were a total loss. The left and right floor sections of the trunk were also well rusted. The right side trunk floor is currently inplace with cleco pins awaiting welding. It also has new right and left front fender aprons. The parts to complete the rest of the car included with the auction as detailed below. All side window glass in intact and I believe original. The windshield was cracked so I didn't keep it. The engine: This was originally a 6 cylinder car. My plan was to convert it to a V8 as part of the restoration. Because of this the original engine, transmission, and rearend are not included. I no longer have them. It currenlty has a used 5 lug 8 inch rearend installed. I also have a V8 engine that I'd planned to use with the vehicle. I was told that it was a 289 from a late 60's mustang and that it would need rebuild before use. I also have a pair of T5 manual transmissions. I believe both have issues. After the body work was complete, my plan was to get one of them rebuilt and working and pair it up with the rebuild V8. The parts: It was impossible to get everything into photos. The original chasis parts are all included. I was pretty methodical during the disassembly. All smaller parts groups are bagged and labeled so you aren't getting a box full of random bolts. In addition to the original parts I'm also including: New (unistalled)- radiator, alternator, waterpump, Glove box, battery brace, left side full rear frame rail with built in rear torque box, left front torque box, left fron kick panel, left and righ full floor pans, ingnition switch bezel, left side trunk floor panel, rear valence (GT style), left and right rear floor pans, left interior rocker panel, left side convertible support pan. New (installed) - right front torque box, right front kick panel, right side inner rocker panel, right rear torque box, right rear frame rail sections, left and right fender aprons, right side trunk floor, stock leaf springs. Extra used parts - extra pair of doors - the are OEM on the inside with aftermarket door skins, aftermarket hood, 2 T5 transmissions. Included Equipment - 4 steel underwheel floor dollies, engine stand (in the photo - it think is intended for chevy engine), contertible door braces (also in photos- both sides are included) Please note that there are far more parts than I could include in photos. I tried to get most of the big items but there are a total of 7 plastic totes of original parts plus other items that I couldn't fit in photos. The bottom line is that there are a lot of extra parts with this vehicle. It comes with most of what is needed to complete the restoration. I have a clear Texas title ready to transfer to the buyer. The car is located in Rockwood, Tennessee. Its about 10 minutes from exit 338 on I-40. The buyer must be able to pick up the vehicle. I'll work with you on the pick up time but I'd like to get it moved with in a few weeks of the auction close. Buyer will definitely need a truck in addition to a car hauler in order to carry all of the parts $500 deposit is due via Paypal within 48 hours of auction close. The can be paid when the car is picked up.
