On May 16th, 1968, Linda Livermore walked into Elmhurst Ford in Elmhurst, Illinois and put $50.00 down on an incoming 1968 Ford Mustang. On June 5th, she returned with a $3,044 check for the balance and drove out with her brand new shiny yellow 289 Mustang! The song was “Mustang Sally”, not Mustang Linda, but this car remained with Miss Livermore until the day she passed away in December 2013. This Mustang is Meadow Lark Yellow with a black vinyl top and black bucket seat/console interior. It’s equipped with a 289 and the select shift “cruise-o-matic” automatic transmission. The miles are REAL and fully documented at 84,448. The car was repainted in 1981 and the body is in decent shape today. The motor has had various maintenance done to it over the decades and runs very good. I have driven it a couple hundred miles without incident. The car starts right up every time and drives nice and straight down the road, there is NOTHING like the sound and smell of an old car! The Goodyear Decathlon tires were installed on the car in 1994 and are still in good shape. The only thing that has been done to the car recently was I had the original air cleaner bead blasted and repainted for the heck of it and it looks GOOD! This Mustang is nowhere near perfect, there are some body issues, pitting in the chrome, wear on the interior, engine components, etc., but it’s a neat original car that is running and driving with an awesome history and story. This is a car that you can actually drive and have fun with. It would make a GREAT first muscle car or a very worthwhile project for ANY devoted Mustang enthusiast. Now for the documentation. I have been around old cars for many years now and when I tell you this is THE most documented car I have EVER seen, it’s NO joke! This car has THE original bill of sale, build sheet, window sticker, deposit receipts, original check carbon from the buyer’s bank for full payment, warranty book, Ford buyer’s paperwork, and THE original State of Illinois title! This car also has literally a pound of receipts for EVERY SINGLE thing that has EVER been done to it over the past 46 years. I am serious, it is truly remarkable, I have never seen a car with such extensive documentation. Miss Livermore LOVED this car and treated it as if it was part of her family and she was known throughout the neighborhood as the “Mustang Lady”!
