Vehicle Detail
1972 Honda CB750K2. The motorcycle appears to be mostly complete and original. Odometer reads 24,000 miles, which I believe to be original. Looks like someone removed and disassembled the engine, then lost interest in the project. The person I acquierd this from aparently bought it this way from the original owner. From the inspection sticker and the tag that was on it, it looks like the bike was last used in 1987 or 1988. Looks like it was a real nice bike at that time. However it was poorly stored in an old barn. At some point, the roof on the barn collapsed and the bike and its parts were subjected to some weathering. The bike is still restoreable. These early 750s are not getting any easier to find, maybe someone has the ambition to reclaim this bike and show off the resutls of hard work, dedication, and passion for old Hondas. Or perhaps you would prefer to use this one as parts, in which case there are many valuable and hard-to-find parts here. Condition, as best I can determine, is as follows: Moisture has gotten to the bottom end and the cylinders. Jugs and crank have rusted, as have some other parts. Crank still seems to turn but pistons, rods, cam chain are shot. Jugs might be bore-able but they're pretty rusty. Looking over the head and jugs, there do not appear to be any broken or bent fins. I did not see any damage on the cases either. Engine will need a complete rebuild and probably lots of parts. Things I can see are missing are the clutch and valve adjuster caps. Frame appears to be solid, and although it has surface rust in places, it's in good condition and restoreable. Wheel rims have rust but are straight. Fenders have some surface rust on the chrome, but are straight and do not have any significant dents or damage. Seat is very nice, no rips or tears and still soft. Side covers still have all the nubs intact and are in good condition. Tank has a small ding or two, very rusty inside but does not leak (still has old gas in it). I've cleaned out tanks that were as bad or worse than this and lined them with Caswell sealer, I think this one will be OK if you spend some time on it. Handlebars are straight and in good shape, appear to be original. An adapter has been installed to move the bars back a bit, just a bolt on accessory. Brakes will need to be completely rebuilt, not functional (then never are when they sit this long). Original mufflers long gone, headpipes look original but are rusty and need rechromed. Does not look like the bike was ever wrecked or crashed. Comes with a crash bar with hiway pegs and a set of early 70s vintage hard bags. Rear fender still has the original dealer sticker on it, Penn Cycles in Reading PA. I do have the key for the bike, as well as the original tool kit. There is NO PAPERWORK for this bike. Sold AS-IS, no title. Not hard to get one, I can explain how to do it if you are not familiar. The bike is currently stored in Boyertown, PA. Buyer will need to pic up at my location. I will work with your shipper and assist with loading but the buyer must arrange shipping if needed. Buyer pays all shipping costs if it needs to be shipped. I could probably deliver the bike locally (20-25 miles max) for a small fee if necessary, but it would be on my terms. Please discuss this in advance before bidding. Best to just come and pick it up yourself if at all possible. Payment in green money preferred at time of pickup, but am willing to accept paypal if need be. Please contact me with any questions prior to bidding. Thanks for looking!!
