Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is a freshly restored 1974 Classic Mini Estate (Wagon). This vehicle originally came from New Zealand and was shipped to the U.S. in 2003. I possess the shipping papers with origin Auckland, NZ and destination Baltimore, MD. I have owned this vehicle for four years and have put countless hours and lots of dollars into bringing it back to life. As the photos hopefully show, the final result is a mechanically sound, very sharp looking, unique, and fun to drive Mini. When I had acquired the vehicle, the rear subframe had been removed and rear suspension fully rebuilt and frame painted. The same was done with the front suspension which included new heavy duty tie rods, rubber suspension cones, ball joints, cv and steering rack boots, steering rack ends, etc. The engine was just reconditioned (only 40 miles on it and counting) and is the original Leyland 998cc. The professional work done to the engine includes: Resurfaced head, head pressure test (small fracture found in head but passed pressure test), valve job, crank shaft ground, block boiled, cylinders honed. All seals, gaskets, bearings were renewed during reassembly. Engine is very much stock with the practical addition of the following items: Duplex timing chain, Dual SU HS2 carburetors, Billet Aluminum Rocker Cover, Spin-on style oil filter conversion, Mowog 12A661 Intake Manifold, and Maniflow LCB header connected to a brand new RC40 exhaust system. Original manifold, oil filter housing, single SU HS2 carb, and rocker cover will be included with the vehicle. I also have a second set of tires in pretty rough shape mounted to the original steel wheels. With only 40 miles on the engine, it is very much still in the break-in period and is being treated as such. Hours will continually be put on the engine until sale of vehicle. We are still waiting on a few last minute parts (mostly cosmetic) all of which will be fitted prior to sale. Cosmetically, the vehicle is like new but not original. Firstly, this Mini started its life (and still is obviously but in disguise) a Clubman Estate which had the squared off fenders, flat bonnet, etc. and had a grey exterior with yellow interior. The previous owner purchased new MK1 inner and outer fenders, bonnet, front nose panel, and ALL NEW CHROME to replace the Clubman style front end. Therefore, from the outside this mini takes on the look of a 1959-1967 era Morris/Austin Traveler with the exception of the internal door hinges and roll up windows. In addition, custom cedar window frames were fab'd and installed around the rear sliding windows. Cedar trim was also added to the interior of the rear windows and rear arm rests. All interior panels were replaced with new and covered with a tan twill fabric. There are 10" Minilite wheels all around. The exterior was sprayed with a base clear finish in a metallic brown with the classic white roof (single stage). A brand new windshield is fitted with a new rubber seal and chrome lock strip. All exterior gaskets and rubber seals are new with the exception of one rear door seal as the original was in satisfactory condition. The first of many miles to be put on this Mini since its restoration have received so many smiles, thumbs up, waves, etc. It is a real treat to drive and to call it a head turner is definitely an understatement. See below for complete list of new items purchased for the vehicle. I won't claim I have receipts for every last part, but I have receipts for most of them. I also have photos of the vehicle when it was in New Zealand and several throughout the restoration. As previously stated, there are a few items left to be addressed prior to sale and I will add updated photos of those items as they're completed. These will be finished by the end of this auction. I just joined the military and am shipping off to training in a month so would like the vehicle sold ASAP Let me know of any questions whatsoever or if you would like specific photos added.
