Vehicle Detail
This is an all original rust free 1941 Plymouth Deluxe 4 door, with cool suicide doors. It originally came from Kansas, and I was told the dealer who sold it new bought it back from the original owner, and kept it in his personal collection for some time. It has perfect patina to drive as-is, restore, or make a custom by installing later model running gear. Notice how it has all five of the original wheels with the factory pin striping. The exterior stainless and trim is all there, and in excellent shape. The engine was out of the car when I received it, and it is believed to be the original one. There were a few externals missing, so I purchased the second one in the picture. It was described as having been rebuilt many years ago, then taken out of a car and stored on an engine stand inside for over ten years. Between the two you could make one good engine for the car. The transmission and driveline are in the engine picture, the only two things I see missing are the bell housing and the radiator. The car has only 57,000 original miles. The interior is in great shape for it's age, being all original. The seat covers can be pulled back, and the upholstery looks to be all in great shape. If you restitch the right front cover where you can see it is separated, these covers are still in great shape, and could continue to be used. They are durable and period correct for the car. You can see in the pictures that there is no cancer anywhere in the car. There is surface rust in the trunk floor, but the floor and spare tire well are solid. The only dings are in the left rear quarter panel down low, as shown in the photo. I included pictures on the driver's floorboard taken from underneath, under the running board, and one showing inside the front fender well. These photos show how solid the car is. One photo shows a small seam separation on the bottom edge of the trunk lid, only noticeable when you open the trunk. The car has a clear title thru the State of Washington. I am willing to ship the car and assist in loading, with you the buyer making the arrangements and paying for it. This vehicle is offered for sale as-is, with no warranty expressed or implied. If someone does not want the engine parts, I can dispose of them here to save you a shipping hassle. Also, I can store the car for a short time after the sale, but that needs to be agreed upon before the end of the sale. The car is located in Salem, Oregon, and you are welcome to inspect it in person, or have a friend do so for you. Feel free to call or email if you have any questions, or in case I missed something you need clarified. I can be reached Pacific Standard Time at 503-551-8189. Update: I was contacted by a man who has a complete rolling chassis with a rebuilt engine for this car, that would be a great inexpensive way to finish this car and get it on the road. I have added his information and description below. He even has the radiator for the car. He sent me pictures which I can forward to you as well. His name is Doug Wood, and he can be reached at 978-692-5645, or email at dougfwood@yahoo.com. I am selling a 4 door 1940 Plymouth rolling chassis, motor transmission and rear end. I purchased it as the result of the body being used for a hot rod. I saw the body and it was very nice, the seller reported it had been driven right up to the conversion, about six months ago. He reported the brakes to be excellent, the motor to have been rebuilt within the last three years and it had no known mechanicle problems. I bought it for brake and misc. parts for my 1941 Plymouth only to find the 41 was in good condition and in need of no parts. It was superficially cleaned and will need a day's work detailing it if you are looking for other then a driver. The engine turns freely and I have pickled it. The radiator has no known leaks or fan strikes, the transmissionis reportedly is excellent and the brakes look very good. included is a horn and horn ring assembly, a new muffler, gauges, steering , etc. The buyer is responsible for transport. I can store it for as long as three months from the time of purchase and may be able suggest an inexpensive transporter. What you see here is what you get. I can offer no guarentees or returns. The first $1,000 check takes it after it clears the bank. Just to be clear, your purchase of my car and Mr. Wood's rolling chassis are two separate transactions, you will have to negotiate with him on his chassis. No, I am not including it with the sale of my car.Any other questions, please contact me.
