Vehicle Detail
I can't believe the day has come that I am posting my van for sale. And if you are looking for one, I hope you have found this. I am selling my 1987 volkswagen vanagon gl westfalia camper van! I don't know where to begin with this and hopefully you know a thing or two about these vans. This van is the ultimate adventure/camping/recreational vehicle. It is a 4 speed manual van. It has a sink, a stove, and a fridge. It has two beds (pop top), many different closets and compartments, and an incredible sound system. Etc Etc Etc. There is too much to write about. I am the second owner of this van. I bought it from the lady who used to sell me donuts as a kid. Her husband passed away and the van was never used, so my family and I offered to buy it. I bought it with 60,000 miles on it, and it now has 151,400. I have loved this van dearly for the last ten years, and I almost can't believe I'm putting it up for sale. I have traveled all over north america in my van. Many, many camping adventures, countless festivals, tailgates, and even provided me with a place to live on a few different occasions. This van is full of unlimited potential, and it really can change your life. Or at least add to it. I moved a few years ago and registered the van non-op and stored it for 2 years. Since then I have moved back re-registered it, currently registered until sept 2015, and with many hopes of doing more camps and adventures, I have not. With a change in jobs (location) the van has turned into my daily driver. I put the last 50k miles on it without any big trips. And that is not what this van is made for. And with not sight of adventures in the near future, I decided its time to sell it. I want to sell it to someone who will put it to it's proper use. A most importantly, a great loving home. I have cherished this van and treated it very well. The first thing you will notice is how well it drives. It is a very smooth car and it will put a smile on your (and others) face. You will also notice the sound system. I have a sony deck, and all new speakers, and an 8" powered subwoofer under the rear seat. Any type of music you listen to sounds incredible! You can also plug a dvd player into the deck and have full surround sound as you lay in bed. I would love for you to take a drive and see how great this van is. Over the last ten years I have obviously done some work to this van. And you should assume you will too. Last thing I did was replace the steering rack (3 weeks ago), the power steering is smooth as silk now. When registering after non-op I replaced the catalytic converter, new muffler, and had an overall tune up. All work has been done by the fantastic people at Tassi Inc here in Daly City. It also passes smog with no problems. The things you will look at replacing or fixing soon depends on your priorities and plans. As of April, the passenger side power window motor went out. (for the second time!) But this is not bad news. I would highly recommend changing to manual windows. For one, the motors go out, but most importantly, when you are camping or anything, it becomes a huge hassle to get keys, turn on van, then roll a window up/down. I can replace this if it is a big selling point. There has almost always been some type of oil or coolant leak, but nothing that ever raised any red flags. There is a small crack in the head that I've just been "gluing" the seals and consistently adding more coolant/oil. If you are planning on a big trip, or running the van pretty hot, I would replace the head. If you replace it, you might as well do the clutch at the same time to save on labor. The clutch is fine now, but I replaced it about 7 years ago, so it wouldn't hurt. There is normal wear and tear, scratches and what not, but no rust, straight body etc. If you have any questions, please email or call or text me. I would love to answer anything you want to know. I am in no hurry to sell this van, but if you are interested please let me know. I am looking for a decent price, and a good home, so if you think you want to make this incredible addition to you (or your families) life, please inquire. please call for more info and pictures! Thank you for your time. BrandonOn May-27-14 at 23:00:53 PDT, seller added the following information: The van does have an A/C compressor and all hoses for air conditioning. I have never charged the freon therefore never have had a/c, but it is there should you choose to charge it. also, i work for an airline so flying a buyer out after purchasing the van is a very realistic option. once again, thank you very much for your interest. brandon
