Vehicle Detail
This is a beautiful classic Mercedes. It has beautiful body gaps and shut lines. It appears to never been in an accident. There is some minor rust near the passenger side wheel arch, and also some bubbling on the passenger side front fender, which is shown in the photos. The underneath is clean and rust free. This is an early car, 1962, however it has been upgraded with the later 2.8 engine from a 280 SL Mercedes. This is a welcome addition as it increases the horsepower and torque substantially. Please be aware that while this vehicle can be driven on a truck for transport it has an engine noise and is not suitable for cross country driving. After repairing the engine it could be used as a daily driver, or upgraded with a full blown restoration. There is a small hole in the hood, this is from the battery not being properly secured. It bounced up and hit the hood which created an electric arc. This was done by the previous owner. This car has bundt hubcaps which are extremely rare. It does have fourteen inch wheels and tires. Disc brakes on front, drums in rear. The paint is oxidized, and while suitable for a driver, it is not show paint. The vehicle was originally dark green. This car was originally owned by the Mercedes dealer's wife. While it probably had great care in its early years, the vehicle needs some TLC. I am only selling as I am working on raising money for a beach house. I love this body style, and think these will skyrocket in price like the 190SL's have. The trunk is clean and has a nice rubber mat. There is a spare tire and wheel, as well as a jack. Unfortunately there is not a tool kit. The seat faces are cloth and while they will suffice, originally they would have been leather. The chrome on the front passenger bumper is weak. Plan on some re-chroming.
