Vehicle Detail
This is a great bike and runs very strong. Cruises at 70 mph and feels very solid and smooth all the way up to 80 mph. It still has plenty left at 80 mph but those days are over for me now. Completely original. No scratches on either fender or the tank. Starts first kick when hot, but can be a bit finicky on cold mornings if it has been sitting for a couple weeks or more. New battery, tires are very good with about 1000 miles on the rear tire, oil changed less than 100 miles ago. Ready to ride and needs nothing. This is a very, very nice bike, but has a couple small blemishes (in case you are thinking of showing this bike). First, there are about 10 little black dots (no more than 1/16" diameter each) on the inside of the rear wheel where the chrome has been chipped (these do not show up in the pictures). I say "chipped", not "pitted" because there is no pitting on any of the chrome. Second, there are a couple of places at the corner of the gas tank filler neck where the paint is starting to bubble up -- this can barely be seen with the gas cap on but can be seen with the gas cap off, as I have tried to show in one picture. Third, the speedometer works, but starts to slip around 65 mph -- the needle will "float" between 60mph and 70 mph and will not hold steady at higher speeds. Both the tach and the speedometer look great, however, with excellent chrome and nice black faces on both gauges. Finally, some of the white paint in the "Triumph" emblem on the gas tank needs to be touched up, as shown in the picture. These are all very minor issues but I want to be sure they are disclosed, in the interest of being brutally honest. Make no mistake, this is a fantastic machine. I had a 69 Bonneville just like this one that I rode in the 70's for 15,000 miles. These old Triumphs look great, sound great, run great, and are an absolute blast to ride. Thanks for looking.
