Vehicle Detail
I am selling my 1986 Peugeot 505 turbo, 5 speed manual. I bought it in april 2013. I had it shipped from British Columbia (West coast) to New Brunswick, in Eastern Canada. The previous owner was a Peugeot enthusiast who owned it for a number of years and put a lot of money in it. I first heard of this car when it was featured on Bring a Trailer in october 2012: http://bringatrailer.com/2012/10/20/1986-peugeot-505-turbo/ As stated in the bring a trailer link, the previous owner rebuilt the engine at 139 000 kms. The car had been sitting for a number of years and he wanted it to be perfect so he spent $5000 on an engine rebuild, $5000 on a paint job and another $3000 on other things (electrical antenna, side mirrors, tires, fog lights, european headlights, etc... Here is a quote from original craigslist ad in 2012: New timing chain head serviced new exhaust valve guides rebuilt injectors new rings head and block resurfaced cylinder walls deglazed. 2nd and 3rd gear synchro slider replaced. Starter rebuilt, and all things incidental to putting the engine and transmission put back together and into the car. The car was then taken for new paint. There was no rust on this car to repair it is stock with no filler. All the trim and the bumpers were removed before paint. I purchased the car and spent a little bit of money to bring it to the next level: -new rebuit water pump and coolant flush -new air filter -new stick shift bushings -oil and filter change twice -repaired a few electrical issues : fog lights, turn signals, license and parking lights -repaired turbo boost gauge -fixed and replaced some wiring that was causing a miss and hard start -balanced front tires -refilled power steering fluid (did not find leak ?) I had the car stored inside for the winter and put it back on the road in April. It passed the mandatory New Brunswick safety inspection in April 2014 and is driven on just about every sunny day. The car now has around 145 000 km (90 000 miles) and is in stunning condition. It starts instantly, idles smoothly, does not smoke, has good power. The clutch and shift stick are smooth, steering and front end are tight. Power windows, power door locks, power sunroof, power antenna and power mirrors all work well. All lights, turn signals, horn, wipers, heat and ventilation work well. AM-FM radio works well, have not tried the cassette deck though. All glass is perfect. Interior is perfect (dash, seats, headliner) expect floor mats which have faded. All gauges work. No rust at all, excellent paint (new paint 2010 or 2011). One paint chip on left rocker panel where it meets the driver's door, caused by slight rubbing of door. All moldings, emblems, bumpers are there and in good condition. Tires are very good (Michelin HydroEdge) rims are beautiful, brakes are excellent (not ABS). Remaing things to fix: -Air conditionning does not work -Heated seats do not work -cruise control does not work -Slight oil leak from the turbo area. Has been there ever since I bought the car (and before). Turbo works well and car does not smoke. Not enough to add oil in between oil changes. Car is located in Bathurst, NB, Canada, about 100 miles from the US Border in Van Buren Maine. Importing the car to United States is not a problem since car is over 25 years old. I can assist with shipping. Title is clear Comes with some spare parts, filters, 2 instrument clusters, one radio, grill, switches, shop manual, extra rim, owner's manual, two sets of keys,etc... Why am I selling? I am a big fan of Peugeots, especially the 505, but the turbo is not my favorite. The suspension is not as smooth as other Peugeots, and the engine, although quite powerful sounds unrefined. And the powerband is too narrow for my liking. So I am hoping to buy another Peugeot, 504 or 505, if I can find one in perfect condition. There is no expressed or implied warranty. PLEASE DO NOT BID IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO BUY THE CAR! Do not hesitate to contact me for more info or pictures. I will post a link to a video of car being driven shortly. On May-11-14 at 13:16:30 PDT, seller added the following information: As promised I took a short video of car being driven on May 11 2014 and posted it on youtube. Bad quality and for some reason first 1:20 minutes are slow motion and no sound, so video really starts at 1:20. It is just to show that car runs well.
