So up for sale is this 1979 Toyota "Hilux" 4x4 short bed with the following modifications: Truck was fitted with a complete rebuilt 22R and an L52 5 speed from an 83. The work was performed by, Dave's Off Road Performance in Diamond Springs, California. The Motor was installed and fired up on 10/8/2010 with 58,950 miles showing on the odometer. Currently the rig is sitting at 63,141 there is just 4,191 miles on a fresh motor, tranny, and transfer cases. Dave also used a 20R head instead of the 22R as he say's the 20R gives a higher low end performance. At about the time of the rebuild, the following other parts were additionally added:THE GOOD: New clutch, pressure plate and flywheel Slave and Master Cylinders Steel braided brake lines Trailgear power steering pump kit. Distributer, wires, and plugs Coil-igniter Fuel pump Drive belts All Gear Lube Toyota brand Anti-freeze Motor mounts Weber 32/26 "California Smog legal carburetor." Headers, have the air pump cross over tubes Hooker Maximum Flow Muffler. With new 2 ¼" exhaust. 8,000 lb. Warn Winch. With remote, snatch block and tow straps. "S" shaped adjustable drag link by Pro Comp. Detriot True Trac installed by, "Jaws Gear and Axle" Front and Rear. Both axles received completely new Ring and Pinions, wheel bearings, and seals Warn Locking Hubs Twin Sticks and dual Transfer cases by Marlin Crawler Driveline "e" brake by "All Pro".Hi Lift Style Jack, Mounted on Dog Box with keyed locksInside cab roll cage. Vintage removable Flash light mounted to passenger side cage. Front and rear tube bumpers and nerf bars Custom built Dog box in bed Bed sealed KC Off Road lighting, 2 on roll cage facing forward, one rearward.One on each side of winch in bumper. One of each corner, (rock lights) 4 total. One of each side of dog box. H4 front headlights Dash lighting converted to LED. They're Brighter. Dash Cap over old cracked dash Pad. Along with a Dash Cover. Cobra Model 25LTD classic CB Radio with Power Mic and speaker. Also a PA speaker under the hood. Kenwood AM/FM, CD Radio, removable face plate. Speakers in doors and behind seating. Dunlop, " Radial Rover" 35x12.50x15 installed @ 60,125 miles Aluminum Wheels "Carr" brand Step on Nerf Bars, (Driver Side only).There also is a switch mounted above the emergency brake handle to cut off the brake light when the brakes are applied. All doors open and close nicely with very little force to make the closure complete. The door seals are doing their job's well as I have used a garden hose on the doors to wash the truck and have not seen an invasion of water to the inside of the cab. The tailgate opens and closes very nicely as well. Latches hold as they should. Hood release uses minimal effort to pop the hood open. The closure of the hood is also easy. Window regulators on the passenger side is smooth and roll up and down easily. The driver side in the cold Winter is stiffer. (Grease is dried out) Right now the window rolls up and down just fine. The Carburetor is a 20R Weber 32/36,and as such, in cold weather starts you will use a manual choke. During the Summer Months the choke is use just not as long. Additional Parts included with purchase are as follows: New unused Front shock "Hoop" mount kit for stronger Shock perch. New Rear Shock relocate kit. This kit will re-position rear shock OVER REAR AXLE instead of the stock angled position. FRS Steering Box with Pitman arm. NIB High steer tie rod, ends, mounts, and all hardware in a Kit. New Tube DoorsAir Conditioner "Box" or "Suitcase" for inside cab with duct work. Engine brackets for Air Conditioner compressor Extra Valve Cover, (if you wanted to have it Polished) The previous owner had compiled a folder with receipts for the above work and parts installed. Miscellaneous parts. Over all this truck is in pretty good shape considering its age. The previous owner had it since 1991 and used it for his hunting rig. It did not see hard off road use. The mileage listed according to the previous owner is correct. As I said he did not drive it daily as he used it for hunting mainly. Wipers work, heater works, blower motor works, Even the Defroster temperature control levers work!! Included in sale is a complete extra control lever with cables, just in case the levers in the dash break. After all, they have plastic inserts that are 35 years old. I completely cleaned them and re-greased them. They are ready for service in the event they are needed!!NOW THE NOT SO GOOD: In 1987 the truck was stolen and recovered but not before the Insurance Company paid off the Original owner. The Original owner's then opted to buy it back and replace the seat, axles and other various parts that were striped from the Vehicle. As a result of this, a SALVAGE TITLE was placed on it by DMV. According to the previous owner, it was not in a Vehicular accident. Frame and body numbers match. All of this information is what the PREVIOUS OWNER told me. Additionally, I recently attempted to have the Vehicle smogged here in California, but it did not pass. The failure was based on the carburetor settings. The Smog technician did not do a pre-test. He just ran it and now the Vehicle is in the California system as being a “Gross Polluter”. The failure was on the, “NO (PPM)” Nitrous Oxide. The reading was high. All of the other readings were very low. This is why I am selling the Vehicle “Out of State”. If you are a California buyer, then YOU are responsible for smog, as this Vehicle will be sold to California buyers as an, “Off Road Only Vehicle”.
