Vehicle Detail
Up for sale here I have a two registered owner patina'd 1955 Chevrolet 3600 long bed task force pickup truck that was bought new by the J.T. Lardner cut stone company in Topeka, Ks in 1955 as a work truck and was used up until 1983 when it was tucked in the corner of their business and they quit carrying insurance on it and to avoid taxes they put it on a non highway title. Around 5 years ago the gentleman that I got it from did some work for them and saw the truck in the corner and asked about it and took it as payment for his work. He never titled the truck but he said it was up and yard driving then but the carb needed work and one brake line was bad so he used the e brake to stop it. The truck has a killer look with its original green paint coming through an old red repaint with its reflective sign type logos on the doors. It does have some rust in the doors, fenders, cab corners and floors but its nothing that patch panels wouldn't fix if you wanted to fix it. I'm having a friend of mine who builds cars for a living patch the floors with 18 gauge sheetmetal but I'll leave the rest up to you and your tastes. When I purchased it first thing I did was go and get a clear ks title that matches the frame and cab vin. Then we looked at the mechanicals and it wasn't firing so we put a new battery and a borg warner coil on it and it fired but didn't want to stay running off of a gas can. So we replaced the cap, rotor, plug wires and plugs and it still will fire but doesn't like to stay running so I would assume the carb needs rebuilt or replaced because the fuel pump was working. The truck is a factory 235/hydramatic automatic trans truck. I would think someone who is mechanically inclined could have this truck up and moving in one good weekend of work. It will need some brake work, exhaust, tires, fuel system cleaned and some electrical because the headlights and the dash lights are the only lights that come on when you turn on the switch. The factory ignition works with the key and the interior of the truck is all there and usable as is if you wanted to. The factory jack is still mounted on the drivers side of the seat and the spare is under the bed. The windshield and both pieces of glass in the passenger door have cracks and the drivers door glass and rear window are nice. The drivers side wing window has some bubbling but not terrible. The windows roll up and down like they should and the doors open and close properly. The chrome front grill and bumper have surface rust and a couple of dings in each and the painted steel utility bumper on the back has quite a bit of rust in it. It was a work truck for almost 30 years. The bed, steps and tailgate are very straight and solid with the original wood and strips in place. The wood is weathered but you could use it the way it is for awhile. The rear fenders have some rust along the seams and some dents but nothing that isn't easilly repairable. The cab corners are gone but the rear of the cab is in front of the bed. The floor is solid other than the front corners that we are replacing that go down into step area that is rusted. The front fenders have some rust down low like most of them and some rust by the rear corners of the hood and a past repair over the headlight brows. The passenger door has some rust in the outer skin but is solid otherwise and the drivers side has outer, bottom and inner rust. The roof does have a ding or two in it but nothing serious and has no rust in it. Sorry for the lenghty description but I want you to know what you're buying with no suprises. Overall just a cool looking old work truck that you could use with the look its earned over its lifetime or restore it back to its former glory. This truck is selling with no reserve and the auction may end at anytime before a bid is placed because the truck is for sale locally. For free transport quotes contact Ryan @ ASAP TRANSPORT 913-201-0133. Thanks and good luck bidding. I also didn't mention that I can get a 10% discount at LMC truck plus no sales tax so if a buyer wanted resto parts I could pick them up for my cost and save you on shipping because I'm only 30 minutes away from them.
