Vehicle Detail

2006 Suzuki SV 650. I purchased this as an insurance total in 2008, to build it into a track bike. At the time it had just 1390 miles, and that is the mileage shown on my California title. It now has just over 3000 miles. That’s correct, 3000 miles. When the updated front end was installed I epoxied rare earth magnets to the front disk carrier, the speedometer works, and is accurate. So that mileage is actual, this thing has never rolled more than 200 yards without a working speedometer. The bike had been hit from the rear. The rear subframe was destroyed, and the (cast aluminum) ear of the frame where the subframe attaches on the left side was snapped off. You can see my finger pointing to the repaired area in the photo. A local aluminum welder repaired it, and if you weren’t told it had been repaired, you almost certainly wouldn’t notice it. The subframe was replaced. There is cosmetic damage to the tank (dented) and front faring (scuffed), and paint missing on the swing arm. But it goes straight, no steering damper. A GSRX 600 front end was installed, with heavier springs, as well as a Penske shock. Rearsets, Clipons, a Yoshimura slip-on, and a TRE (timing retard eliminator) installed. It starts immediately with a push of the button. Complete fluid changes after every track season. The suspension was set up at the track by Dave Moss from Catalyst Reaction, and is good to go for a 180 lb rider. You need to do nothing other than gas it up, push the button, and have fun. I have spare handlebars, clutch and brake levers, Haynes service manual, and primered upper and lower front race bodywork. I bought a complete set of bodywork, but only installed the tail section. I still have the (unplugged) front and rear wiring harness sections that operate the front and rear lights and signals. I’ll throw in a motorcycle cover. I built this bike for a friend, my track day buddy, who has moved on to other pursuits. This will be a heck of a buy for someone, as you’re never going to find something like this with this kind of mileage, and you certainly wouldn’t be able to build one like it without spending a great deal more than my reserve. Although it was an insurance total, it has a clear California title. Any potential California buyer who might be thinking of converting this back to the street should be aware that I have not paid registration fees since I purchased it in 2008. I’ll expect a $200 NON-REFUNDABLE deposit via Paypal within 48 hours of the end of the auction. If the winner fails to comply, I’ll void the auction and relist. I’m retired, so I can be available nearly any time to accommodate your schedule as far as shipping or pickup. I reserve the right to end this auction at any time.
