Up for sale is my 1996, Dodge Ram 2500, 4X4, extended cab, automatic, Cummins Turbo Diesel. You will be very hard pressed to find a 2nd generation Cummins in near the shape this truck is in, and you will have an even harder time finding one with as low of miles. This truck has 85,342 original miles! That is not a typo, 85K miles. Jumping in this truck will bring you back to 1996, when diesel trucks got great millage, were reliable, and were free of reliability hindering diesel particulate filters and EGR systems! I don't think I need to explain how awesome these trucks are, nor do I need to discuss how reliable the 12 Valve Cummins power plant is, the reputation of the iconic Cummins name can do all the talking in that regard. I would love to keep this truck, but with how long my commute is it wouldn't be practical, and I have another Cummins in the garage as it is. Body The body is extremely straight on this truck. The paint shines great, and you can see yourself in the reflection. The paint has some scratches on it, as well as some rock chips, but as you can see from the pictures it looks great, and it looks better then the vast majority of 12 valves you will encounter. The truck is RUST FREE. Mechanical When you jump in the truck and crank the key this Cummins fires right up, without hesitation. It Idles smooths, doesn't smoke, and runs perfect in the entire RPM band. This motor doesn't seem to have missed a beat the last 20 or so years, and I have no doubt it will continue to run great. The Bosch P7100 injection pump looks to have never been modified or adjusted, and still retains paint on the paint over the adjustments. It has two new batteries as well. The four speed 47RE shifts perfectly through all gears, and the transfer case it's mated to works perfectly. The brakes have 80% life on the pads, and the tires have 95% tread left and are almost brand new Yokohama Geolander 285/70/17 on 3rd generation Dodge style wheels (will also include the factory wheels and caps). Interior This may be the cleanest interior out of any 2nd generation 12 valve I have ever seen. It is truly immaculate! It DOES NOT have a cracked dash. It has no tears in the fabric, no stains, everything looks as if you traveled back to when it was new. The interior looks wonderful! Extras As mentioned before the truck does have 3rd generation wheels on it, although the originals are included. It also has 3rd generation flip up tow mirrors. The only real performance modification it has is a cold air intake, and a set of Autometer gauges to keep an eye on the stock motor (boost, transmission temperature, and pyro in a three gauge pillar mount). The truck has a color matched topper with it, and included in the sail is a hoist to mount in your garage/shop so it can be lifted off with one person. The truck also has an aftermarket stereo system, with an Alpine deck, a sub under the center console, after market door speakers, and two subs under the back seat. It sounds great, but was installed by the previous owner, so I don't know exactly what it all is, or how much it cost. The pictures pretty much speak for the truck. It's in great condition, and finding one of these 12 valves with under 100K miles, or even under 200K miles is getting harder and harder, especially with how nice this truck is. I wouldn't be afraid to drive it cross country, pulling a trailer, in the middle of Summer, and the AC will keep you cool doing so.
