Vehicle Detail
The train has officially departed when it comes to very early 911s, a restored 65 just sold at Techno Essen in Germany for nearly $600,000. This car is a bit of a time warp and has an interesting history. Purchased by a college professor new in 1965, it was driven until he passed away in 1974. The car was placed into storage by his daughter and sat in their garage until a few months ago. The car was purchased by a Porsche enthusiast from the daughter with the intent of resuscitating the car as a weekend toy. We located the vehicle through word of mouth and convinced the owner that a car like this deserved better than an amateur restoration. Unlike so many other early 911s, this car has not been molested or modified in any way asides from being shot with primer. Prior to being put into storage by the original owner, it looks like the car was painted once in a darker shade of brown. There are still sections of the car that still wear the original (356 color) Togo brown. The interior is in amazing condition and for the most part should be preserved, not restored. Mechanically, the car is solid and will run on a remote fuel supply. The gas tank has been removed and reconditioned, the Solex carbs rebuilt. This 911 is even still running the bendix and mechanical fuel pumps. We expect that potential buyers will want to fly in and inspect the car prior to purchase, we are happy to assist with ground transportation to and from the local airport, RDU. We can aid overseas buyers with shipping and export logistics.
