Vehicle Detail

This XR80 is in excellent condition for its age, and is completely ready to ride as-is. I bought it a few years ago for my sons to ride, but they are now nearly grown and we no longer have a use for it. It would be an excellent bike to restore to new condition. When I bought it, it had an oil leak at the cylinder gasket, so I disassembled it and also inspected the cylinder and piston. As one of the piston rings were broken, I had the cylinder bored to the next oversize and replaced the piston & rings along with the cam chain tensioner, ignition points, gaskets and seals. I also inspected the clutch and replaced the clutch plates and springs. The tires are in good condition. I rebuilt the carburetor and always keep fuel stabilizer in the fuel. The fuel tank does not have any rust inside from what I can see ( see photos ). The rear shocks were replaced by the previous owner with Works brand shocks; both the front and rear suspension operate properly. I have always stored this bike in the garage, as have apparently the previous owners, from the appearance of it. PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING ITEMS: 1. This motorcycle is 35 years old, and while in great condition, it cannot be expected to be perfect. There are various scratches, scuffs and dents. Look at the photos carefully. 2. One of the previous owners, for some unknown reason, ground the stops off the steering head. I can only guess that they may have needed to squeeze the bike into a small truck bed for transporting it, and needed to turn the front end completely to one side ( ? ). Because of this, the triple clamps can hit the tank if the steering is forced all the way one way or the other...there are dents in the tank from this ( see photos ). The stops could be easily restored by a competent welder. I never bothered with it, since it doesn't affect riding the bike. Someone restoring it would want to fix it. The dents could also be repaired. 3. On the left side, the number plate is missing the part that says "XR80". 4. There is some minor rust on the wheel rims. 5. The seat has a couple areas in the back along the seams where it looks like a repair was made with some type of glue-like substance. Not very noticeable, but it's there. 6. The front fender plastic and the left side cover plastic color is not perfectly matched to the tank and other side cover; they may not be original.
