Vehicle Detail

Beautiful, original 1961 Ford Thunderbird 2 door hard top coupe (a.k.a. the "Roundbird"). Red on red. This car was passed down to me by my dad a couple years ago, so I apologize if I don't know all the history or details of the car. What I do know is its a 390ci 6.4 l FE- series 300 hp V8 with a 4 barrell Holly carb with dual exhaust. It's the 3rd generation of the tbird and features the Swing Away 18" steering wheel. Has automatic transmission, power windows, power drivers seat, bucket seats, and the fender skirts. Runs strong, drives smooth, and turns heads wherever it goes. Currently has an Optima gel battery and includes the spare tire and jack. I also have a new trunk upholstery kit (white), it has just not been installed yet, due to the trunk rubber needs to be replaced. Exterior The body is straight no dings dents chips and the paint is about 7 years old. There are some flaws in the paint. There are some swirls in certain lights, but probably a good wax would bring it back to life. The biggest flaws I think the car has is 2 areas have what I believe is cancer. One is just below the driver side door near the tire, the other is near the back window on the passender side, between the trunk and window. I got close-up pictures of these areas. The rubber around the doors could be replaced as well, it is an Arizona car. The tires have a lot of tread although the side walls has some small heat cracks. There are a couple small dings and scratches in the bumper from where it got bumped at the cars show, see pictures. The trim piece on the front of the hood has a crack in it as well as the drivers side left front turn signal. There is one small bb crack in the windshield, from some neighborhood kids. Again this is no show car, it has flaws, but a beautiful piece of history. Interior As you can see the interior is in great shape. No rips or tears, although there are a few thin crack in the passenger side door plastic near the window. There is a spot on the drivers seat where the threads have seperated have have been repaired. The center consold does not latch into place. Latch mechinism many need repaired or replaced. Also one of the interior lights stays on all the time. Probably a loose wire in the door switch. I've just disconnected the battery between drives. The drivers door instrument panel wont control the passenger front window but all other electrics work. The rear drivers side window needs help. Sometimes you need to nudge the gear shifter towards park all the way to start. No cracks in the dash although the speaker housing cover has some warp. The vinyl on the passender side dash is loose and a little saggy. No sags in the headliner. All in all, it's definately comfortable, clean, and a nice view from inside the vehicle. I listed all isues to make sure you'd have no surprises when you see the vehicle. This car is in great shape considering it's over 50 years old. It was recently appraised at $10,800. It has a very smooth ride and is a blast to drive. I've put maybe 75 miles it in the last 2 years it's been mine, just maintained it mostly. I know my dad always did frequent fluid changes with quality products on his vehicles. He always used Stable in the gas when he'd fill it up and park it, Marvel's Mystery Oil every other oil change, and kept his vehicles clean. 154822 miles and a clean clear open title.
