Vehicle Detail
This extremely rare and beautiful 1965 Mercury Meteor Montcalm Convertible is priced to sell! Very low production numbers. Ford FE 352 2v. Engine was completely rebuilt in 2008, and painted to original specs per the Oakville, Ontario plant where it was built. Approximately 5K miles on the rebuild. Car was repainted in its original Ford Silver Metallic color shortly before I purchased it in 2007. The paint job is beautiful and top notch. The only flaw I can see in the paint is a small chip on the front of the hood that I will let the purchaser touch-up. This car was manufactured for the Canadian market. In essence, it is a cross between a 1965 full-size US Mercury exterior and a 1965 US Ford Galaxie interior, and was only available in the Canadian market. Because of this common heritage with the US vehicles, interior and exterior parts are readily available. The car drives and shifts strongly and is a pleasure to drive. It is impossible to take the car out for a spin without getting constant compliments and turned heads. Everything works that I am aware of except for the clock. The clocks come up on ebay all the time (same as a US 65 Galaxie). Lights, switches, convertible top, heater, fan, turn signals, wipers, all working well. The car has never been in the rain since I have owned it, and knowing what I know about the original owner I purchased it from, I would be surprised if it ever has. I have stored the car in climate controlled storage year round. There is no rust of any significance that I know of. When the car was originally built 50 years ago, the rust protection package was purchased. It seems to still be doing its job. The engine is good to go as is the paint. The transmission does have a small drip on occasion, but not serious in my estimation. It was my plan to tackle the interior,as it needs some work. I purchased new, correct grain and color, top quality seat covers from Dearborn Classics, but never installed them. They come with the purchase. (Please note the front seat covers are pictured and not the rear seat covers. I do have those too, they are included, but not pictured). Also in the pic is a new white boot cover, also included. The door panels need to be replaced, and they are available on ebay in high quality, correct color and grain. I can share that link with you if you want. The original dash has a crack, and I purchased a plastic dash cap specifically made to fit this dash, in the correct color. That also comes with the purchase. The carpet is OK, but could be replaced if desired, and the convertible top needs to be replaced, see picture. Odometer shows 32,000, which I assume is actually 132,000. If these items were finished, it is ready to show in my opinion. It will be very hard to part with this car, I simply love it, by personal circumstances have created the need for me to part with it. Please give it a good home :) All sales are final and vehicle is sold as is. Please feel free to ask any questions. Car will only be sold in US and Canada. Car is located in the Seattle area.
