Vehicle Detail
This Volvo 122S (also known as an Amazon) wagon is a great old car that gets lots of attention around town. These are quite rare in the South Carolina where it lives now. This car is originally a Southern California car, and lived in Pennsylvania and Virginia before I bought it. It's been kept up pretty well by its owners over the years, and looks great at a glance. For a car that spent time in Pennsylvania, this car has shockingly little rust. The worst rust is along the rear of the rocker panels and one box frame area under the left side. The PA owner must not have driven it much in the snow and/or was extremely vigilant about rustproofing. This car could be a great driving, casual show car with relatively little work. Dual circuit brake system – if one circuit has a failure, you still have hydraulic brakes collapsable steering column, so the steering wheel won't impale the driver in a significant frontal collision cool 'bowtie' steering wheel None of these features were available before the 1968 model year The odometer is broken -- this car definitely has more than 100,000 miles and quite possibly has more than 200,000 miles on it. Pearl white over red vinyl Clean, clear title RUNNING / DRIVING / FUNCTIONALITY B18 engine fitted with an electric choke Weber carb with 4 speed manual transmission Starts reliably, big puff of smoke on start, and noticable oil burning on gear changes under hard acceleration (according to someone who followed me in traffic) I will include a rebuilt head and head gasket set/kit that I haven't gotten around to installing Transmission shifts well and clutch works well Wipers work, both speeds Headlights, running lights, dash lights, turn signals work All doors and windows open and close easily, locks work properly Rear gate works, good struts Fuel level gauge, idiot lights all working. Speedometer cable broke 2 years ago and I haven't replaced it. I use the aftermarket Tach (OE type installation) to gage speed. Coolant temp gauge not working Heater blower fan works Defrost / heater controls working and heater works Steering/handling marred by a completely worn out lower control arm bushing. All other bushings in good servicable condition. I have two replacement control arms included to make those bushings easier to replace with less downtime. EXTERIOR Paint in good shape (a good quality repaint in the original color), amazingly little rust for a car of this age Roof in good condition with no dents or rust. No sunroof. OE roof rack parts included, but partly removed for modern bike rack not included. Most chrome in great condition All glass intact and in good shape, most of the weatherstripping has been replaced at least once. The exception is the driver's side wing vent weatherstripping, which needs to be replaced. I am including the replacement weatherstripping in the group of parts that come with this car. INTERIOR Seats have been recovered a few years ago and look nice. Door panels in good shape Headliner intact, with a few miscellaneous tears. All window cranks and door handles present and working well. Radio is aftermarket and works, cassette deck does not. Two speakers installed on floor under front seats Spare tire, hold down, jack and tools included Original front Rubber floor mats in good condition, new carpet installed a few years ago and in good shape Message with questions for more details. Inspections welcome. Located in Greenville South Carolina. Shown by appointment only. On Mar-10-14 at 08:13:58 PDT, seller added the following information:I have the original steel wheels and hubcaps which will be included. On Mar-10-14 at 11:53:07 PDT, seller added the following information: One defect I just thought of: The coolant overflow bottle has developed a leak this winter, but I have driven it around town without noticable coolant loss from the radiator, once the coolant overflow bottle is empty. No other observable coolant leaks that I have detected. On Mar-11-14 at 05:26:20 PDT, seller added the following information: I added about a hundred photos this morning to the Google+ album, some of which are annotated with descriptive text notes. The intention of these photos is to call your attention to the details of what I believe are the biggest flaws from a rust/ body perspective. Make no mistake, overall this car is in great shape body and running gear wise compared to the vast majority of it's cohorts! On Mar-12-14 at 10:57:19 PDT, seller added the following information: I have some notes on a compression test that I did last year: #1:190psi (115 after several cranks), #2:120psi, #3: 128, #4:120, then added a bit of seafoam liquid to each cylinder and tried again: 115, 122, 119, 130. I'm a shadetree hobbyist mechanic -- these are my notes.
