Vehicle Detail

I am selling a 1968 Triumph TR6R that we restored for a good customer in 2011. He asked us to list it for him and take care of any of the correspondence since we know the bike really well. This is a restored matching numbers Trophy 650 that is in excellent condition. It runs great and has no issues. I am the owner of the most reputable vintage British bike shop in Austin, Texas. I've been wrenching on motorcycles professionally for 20+ years and Mike Kingsley, who built the engine, has been building Triumph motors for 40+ years. You can check us out at deathtrapmotorcycles.com . It has a clear Texas title and is ready to ride and show off. The owner didn't cut any corners and spared no expense doing it right. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I will answer them as honestly as possible. The owner has some knee issues and unfortunately has to sell this gorgeous bike because he can't enjoy riding it any more. He has put less than 800 miles on it since the rebuild so it has been broken in already and any bugs that needed to be worked out have been. These photos were taken a couple of weeks ago and before the bike is delivered to the new owner, we are going to tune it, polish the engine covers, replace the gaiters (1 is torn),clean any corroded fasteners and go over the bike front to back to make sure everything is operating perfectly. The new owner will have nothing to worry about and we will be easy to get in touch with if the new owner has any problem. This is a stock 1968 Triumph Trophy, also called a Tiger in later years. There aren't many differences between the Trophy, Tiger and Bonnevilles. The main difference was the single carb which requires a different cylinder head. The dual carb set up on Bonnevilles wasn't that much of a performance upgrade. On a 1/4 mile drag strip, the twin Amal set up was about a tenth of a second faster. The 1968 was the first year of the twin leading shoe front brake which in my opinion was Triumph's best brake set up. The engine was totally rebuilt with new rod bearings, sludge trap/ plug, +.020 pistons, Hastings rings, cylinder head rebuild. The gearbox was inspected and reassembled with new bearings, Barnett clutch plates installed and anything worn beyond specs was replaced. Also a new Amal 930 carburetor was fitted. Most of the fasteners were sent out and cad-plated.The frame was powdercoated semi-gloss black. The wheels were re-laced with new chrome rims and stainless steel spokes, Dunlop K70 tires installed. The paint is flawless, done by Jason Small in Dallas. It is the correct paint scheme for the year and model. It was rewired with a Tympanium rectifier and Boyer ignition, new switches, warning lights, headlamp shell, ammeter, battery...All the cables were replaced, rubber, seat cover, fuel taps etc...The gauges were completely rebuilt at Nisonger in New York. Genuine Smiths Speedometer and Tach. The starting bid is the minimum the owner will take for this Triumph. No reserve is set. This auction is open to international bidders, however anyone who wins this auction is responsible for making the shipping arrangements. I will help as much as I can , but I will not crate the motorcycle or transport it more than a few miles away. The buyer is solely responsible for the bike after the transaction is complete. I will not store the motorcycle for an unreasonable amount of time after the transaction is complete. The winner of the auction must pay a $500US deposit through PayPal within 24 hrs of auction end and the remainder of the balance needs to be paid with a cashiers check or cash within 7 days of auction end. Of course the bike will not be released until the check clears. Thank you!
