Vehicle Detail
This old Motorcycle is an example of the 1st and most desirable model year for the CB400F (produced between 1975 & 1977). The CB400F has always been very collectible and some would argue even more so today. This example starts within a second or two of pressing the start switch or one kick with the kick-start lever. Everything works as it should including the instrument & indicator lights, horn, speedometer, tachometer and brakes. The suspension is as good as it gets for 1975 technology and is certainly fine for daily riding. The six-speed transmission shifts well up & down through the gears under load. This particular example was restored a few years ago by the previous owner. I'm told the bike was stripped down to the frame then rebuilt using NOS parts where available and budget permitting. These include the fenders and tail light bracket, among other items. The frame was powder painted, the engine was also painted with hi-temperature color matching silver paint. The exhaust headpipes are original and the muffler is a NOS genuine Honda replacement. Note the damage on the #4 headpipe. The turn signals are original and show light to moderate scuffing & wear. The engine cases have been polished and look really nice. The carburetors were professionally cleaned then installed and synchronized properly with a 4-tube manometer. New Dunlop tires, wheels & spokes were also installed. Speaking of wheels, note how clean the wheel hubs are! The seat is a later model NOS genuine Honda replacement. The fuel tank and side covers (w/new rubber grommets) were wet painted to the proper color specification. The switch cubes were replaced and the separate switch you see mounted on the handlebar next to the left switch cube was installed by the previous owner to turn off the headlight while the bike is running (to save the battery he said...). The hand grips and levers are NOS as are the Honda mirrors (non CB400F though). I really like the chrome gauge covers & polished 1976 CB400F horn...a nice touch! Overall, this bike presents very well and would make a great candidate for someone who wants to take the restoration to the next level or...simply ride it as it is. You choose...Included is an open South Carolina State title along with two keys, the tool tray & cover and a tool kit. If you have any questions, please contact me. If you live close to Charlotte, NC I encourage you to come and inspect the bike in person!
