This is a very rare 1971 Series 2.5. XKE Coupe 4.2 liter straight 6. Not many know that in 1971, Jaguar not only made the V12 XKE but also the 4.2 liter small body model which was named the Series 2-1/2, these are differentiated from the regular 4.2 models, by having Vin model designation which starts with 2R. Exterior clues to the Series 2.5 models were the chrome trim around the front air scoop, the presence of the Jaguar emblems on either side the front hood, and a different, smaller plenum, air intake for the carburetors. This is the most beautiful of all the models, the XKE Coupe. This one features rebuilt chrome wire wheels, a manual gearbox and air conditioning. This model is the very rare series 2.5 only produced in very low numbers in 1971,the easies way to recognize the series 2.5 is by the chrome trim around the front mouth, and the presence of Jaguar emblemseach side of the front hood.The carburetor plenum, air filter, is also redesigned, is smaller and differently situated than on the regular series II, finally the Vin type number starts with 2R, to differentiate it from the regular and earlier series II which began with 1R,Only a hand full of these 1971 cars were built, this is number 41. The car itself is a CA owner car which is a completely original and unmolested vehicle, other than a top quality repaint back in the 1990s, there are a few minor imperfections, as you would expect,in a car this age, the paint is overall excellent, with great depth and luster, at the time the pictures, it is slightly dusty,after it's Winter break.It is a non Coastal California car, and is 100% rust and accident free.The car is matching numbers.The mechanicals of this car are excellent, it starts first time every time, engine has super oil pressure, 40 lbs at tick over, it does not overheat.The wire wheels were recently rebuilt for safety.The interior is 100% original and nothing has been replaced, headliner, carpets, door panels etc. are all as they left the factory, there are a couple of cracks on the driver's seat,see picture,The trunk area, is perfect and original, down to the smallest detail,the car has the original jack in it's pouch, and even has the 3 eared wheel know off tool.The chrome is all excellent.This is a wonderfully original example of an excellent driver quality driver Jaguar, it is ready to enjoy without further expense.
