Vehicle Detail

You are bidding on a semi-complete project bike. I have been working on it for the past few months, but I am losing garage access and as such, I must join the unwashed masses who rely on four wheels. The bike is in overall good shape, I hope you can see from the pictures. Now, I don't want to focus on the negatives, but I want you to be ware of the reality of the project you are embarking upon - while not a rolling chassis or a parts bike, it needs some love:The entire airbox should be replaced. Case, screen, element, mounting clip and top cover. Shown is a broken tab and a rusty bolt stuck in the bottom section. The first-stage rock-guard is not great. It is possible to put in an element, a new top (with 4 clips) and a new filter. The V-shaped plate that connects the carbs must be reinstalled before the carbs are pulled to be cleaned. 8 M5 or M6 bolts hold it in place. If you need to know I can find out for you for pickup. The carbs should be cleaned, rebuilt and synced. You buy this bike and get it this far, I'll drive over with my Carbsync tool and help you out - NO JOKE!The gas in the tank should be emptied and the tank should be cleaned. Possibly Kreemed. The Gas line is hard and brittle. Replace. The paint on the rear of the tail section is faded. I don't know if buffing will fix it.The white portions are stained with what looks like dirty water marks. Two of the three tabs on the left side cover are broken. The mounting hole on the rear of the fairing is cracked. One tab can easily be repaired, and the mounting hole can certainly be repaired and a new grommet installed. The tank is just put on and not secured with bolts (M6 and M8?) The seat has a mouse hole chewed in the rear about the size of a quarter. The battery is missing, as is the battery door mounting bolt (M6 I think)There is scuffing around the headlight and some pieces of lettering is missing from the Honda logo on the windshield.Chain is rusted and should be replaced so as not to ruin the sprocketsStill here: Okay, more bad news, but more about the general idiosyncrasies of the bike:The starter button is weak and breaks often. It is small and the housing leaves little room for modification. A spare right clip on and mostly-complete right switch gear in included. The regulators on these bikes tend to be faulty and as such, a spare is included. Common practice is to increase load on the bike. Turn those heated grips up, charge your phone, etc.The suspension is not desirable - it is air sprung or air assist. There are a bunch of mods you can find online to bring up the level of suspension much higher. The F3 front end and rear shock is a common mod16" tires. Hard to find. Fitting a 17" in the stock swingarm requires a narrow rear tire. Tires may or may not be flat - they did inflate and stay inflated for 4 days.OK, you are still here, looking at this wonderful low-mileage bike that requires a weekend day's worth of work and a few parts to be road worthy. Now is a terrible time to sell, and a terrible condition to do so in. HOWVER, this iconic bike has one of the smoothest engines I've ever used. The V4 gives the advantages on the in-line 4 with the advantages of a twin. The bike is bombproof, and has MANY more miles left in her. This bike has the best petcock (fuel valve) ever put on a motorcycle. If you were to win this bike, you would get the following:The motorcycle and the parts pictured in the auctionThe spare right hand clip-on and switchgearThe spare regulatorThe clear title, signed by the owner (me)One original Honda keyThe official Honda Manual for 84-85 Honda Interceptor 700 and 750's - in PDF format, without indexing. On DVD-RNow, since the airbox, tank and sidepanels are not simply attached, I would remove them for transport (bring blankets). Please bring a pickup truck or a trailer and I'll help you push the bike. into place. Tie down straps are available if you do not have any - I wont be happy about it though :) Look at the pictures, they very well represent the motorcycle. Please, if you have any questions, please ask!
