Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is a 1957 Chevrolet 3100 sitting on I believe a early 2000's frame. This truck is a good runner and driver. Its used so as is with every old classic vehicle...it is never done and could use work...like shocks, door seals, and a brake power booster. The body is very nice and appears solid and straight for a patinia'd 50+ year old truck. There is a few minor dings and blemishes. Look at the pics. The color is custom red oxide primer with a metallic blue under and throughout the truck which gives it a very cool look. A few answers to some questiosns that have been asked.... the truck rides very nice on the new frame. The steering is very straight and smooth. The shocks do need to be replaced as I stated in the ad. 2004 shocks are about $50 each. The rattles come from the doors which need the rubber door seals put on. Those are $50 for the pair. The power brake booster needs to be replaced I believe. ~$100. I think the vac on it is good but it doesnt seem to be assisting the braking. The brakes work but are just hard to press, like brakes with no power boost. It has disc brakes in front and drum in the rear. The engine runs well...little cold blooded but once warm it purrs. I would put a true dual exhaust system on it if I kept it. This one is loud and probably has a little leak where it has been welded together. The 2004r Transmission shifts well and cruises better than most trucks I own at higher speeds (55mph). The brake lights, and headlights work, only high beam though which is fine to drive with, and the signal lights do not work right now. The gas guage stopped working and shows full when you turn the key. Probably one wire. The wiring harness is a donor from I believe the truck the frame came from and could use some cleaning up or rewiring with a new ez harness. I bought one and never tackled it. I did not do the chassis exchange or the original blue paint that is under the red oxide primer. I did the red oxide. I did inspect the body. The door steps were replaced with sheet metal. The door bottom pictures are in the ad, they are not done with new door bottom metal that you could buy. The door skins appeared to be solid and are NOT flapping in the breeze like they sometimes do due to rust but they are not perfect by any means. I believe the cab corners had work done with some filler but it is not evident as they were done fairly nicely. The lower door hinges and the door post is in very good shape with no rust. The cab is fit to the body with what appears to be some sort of rectangular stock steel welded to the frame and then mounted to the cab body mounts with bolts. I did not notice any cutting to fit it over the frame. It is a very solid body. I believe the fenders to be solid steel and in very decent shape. This is an older restoration with the primer to make it look rustic. Could be a very nice truck if one was to want to take it to the next lever as it is solid and is sitting on a good frame. Or keep it like it is...it gets a ton of attention at car cruise ins. The red oxide makes it look like it sat in a field for 40 years and then you turned the key and drove it out. I did have to modify the rear steps and add early 50 something splash aprons so they would fit over the leaf spring mounts. I do have a clear open title from Tn. It is not in my name since I never registered it but it is ready to go. If you want any other pics let me know and send me your email address.
