Vehicle Detail

For sale is a 1979 Pontiac Trans Am with the rare Y84 option package and 4-Speed manual transmission. Has the WS6 wheels, with 4-wheel disc brakes, T-Tops, power windows and locks, and is supposed to have A/C. Prior owner said the engine was rebuilt, but it is not the original engine. Car runs and drives, poorly, and needs quite a bit of work, which is why it is priced where it is. A Y84 with a 4-speed and WS6 is a rare car, and even with NOM will bring a lot of money when fixed up. If you want to restore one, this would be a great choice. More details: Body: Rear subframe rails and the front subframe are solid, but the floors are a mess, relative to the cars I see in Texas. They look fine from inside because the previous owner set metal pieces in place and just covered them with sealant. From the underside you can see all the holes. The rear floor has some quarter size holes, but the driver front has a section cut out. The passenger front looks solid. The trunk floor is solid. Hard to tell from the pictures, but both quarters need bottom patches (inside part is fine), as does one fender. Doors are solid. One of the hood hinges is tweeked, and the hood strike plate is messed up. Mechanical: When I got the car the driver side front caliper was locked up. After freeing it up and bleeding the system, I blew out the driver rear caliper seal, so that will need to be replaced. The power steering pump leaked like a sieve, though I may have fixed it by tightening the loose high pressure hose. Have not tested the fix yet as I do not want to leak another quart of power steering fluid around my garage and driveway. I have no idea on the actual number of miles, but the odometer says 78,XXX. Rear end code is 3.23 posi, and I believe the engine is a Pontiac 350. I've driven it through the gears, and it seems to shift fine, but I would not drive the car very far on the old tires. The tank is about half full of old crappy gas. One side of the exhaust, after the catalytic converter, is missing. Interior: Obviously needs a new driver's seat and some other interior attention. Power windows work, as do the tach and speedo. There may be other items, but that is everything I can think of. The car is for sale locally, so I may end the auction at any time. Please reply to the ad if you have questions or need specific pictures, and happy bidding. On Nov-08-13 at 09:15:31 PST, seller added the following information:Because of all the interest I added some more pictures. Ideally it would be nice if you could see the car before bidding, and I welcome the inspection, but I understand that is not always possible. So if you are not able to see the car before winning the auction, as long as the final payment/car shipping/title transfer process has not started, you can inspect the car and if you do not like it for any reason can cancel the transaction, less the deposit to cover my eBay fees. I have the car on a lift, so you will be able to do a fairly good inspection. This is not an opportunity to negotiate a price different than the final auction amount.
