This auction is for a 1991 Honda Goldwing SE Anniversary Edition with the special two-tone paint. It has a California Sidecar Friendship II sidecar attached. The Honda Goldwing SE has all the features you need on a first-class touring bike: reverse gear, AM – FM, Intercom, electronic cruise control, rear air suspension w/ air pump, 3 bags with a central key lock, trailer hitch, Etc. The sidecar has a 6.5 gallon gas tank in the trunk with an electric fuel transfer pump. This tank is connected to the motorcycles tank and it can refuel the bike while underway by actuating a switch on the fairing. This gives the rig a total fuel capacity of 13 gallons and a range of 430 miles. The sidecar has a Brembo disk brake that is connected to the front brake lever on the handlebar. The sidecar has a removable convertible top. When a Goldwing has a sidecar attached, the standard telescopic forks have a tendency for violent fork oscillations, extremely heavy steering effort and rapid fork seal wear. To eliminate these problems I purchased a leading-link (Earles type fork) suspension from Unit Sidecar in England for $2000. The effect is magical! I can steer the rig with just one finger resting on the bars. The bad stuff: I an in a hospice at home program and can no longer ride, so the rig has been in the garage for 3 years. I did take it out and get it back on the road briefly 2 months ago. The carbs need a good cleaning and the rig needs a thorough cleaning and polishing. It has a brand new AGM battery and fuel pump, also the clutch master cylinder has been rebuilt. The sidecar needs new disk brake pads installed ( I have the parts) The radio volume control is “scratchy” when you adjust it and the cassette player doesn’t work. A few years ago the brake master cylinder leaked and the brake fluid got into the fairing and caused a 3 inch section to crack and fall out. There is a very slight oil leak at the shifter lever, I have the new seal for it, I just can’t do it. Other than that, the bike is in great physical and mechanical condition and I would not hesitate to go on another trip to Arizona and California (We have done that several times on it) The rig has 98,000 miles on it and it has had excellent maintenance it’s entire life. The rig comes with 2 large helmets with intercom and speakers, drivers backrest, sheepskin seat cover, heel & toe shifter, floorboards, the Honda shop manual and a bike cover.
