Vehicle Detail
I bought this car through Ebay in 2005 as a 95% complete survivor. After spending over $20,000 I believe I can safely say that I've achieved 99%. Galen Govier decoded this car for me and it is in his Registry. He also personally viewed it and scrutinized it at the Virginia State show in 2007 (Winner, Best in Class that year). There are a few things that are not exactly as she rolled off the showroom floor (the Holley 750 carb, Indy intake, and electric fuel pump being chief among them), but I believe this is as close as you are going to get for a low reserve price. Every so often I get the wild idea to let my dream car go, and if you meet my reserve in the next 7 days, she'll be yours. This is a beautiful example of the first Coke-bottle body Charger. This is a true 440/375 HP R/T with floor shift 727 automatic. Though the engine is not numbers matching, it is a professionally rebuilt 440 (C-code) with roughly 500HP and a roller cam and hardened valve seats making it compatible with today's low-zinc oils and alcohol laced gas. Of course I still use only high zinc oil and non-ethanol gas, but you'll have some options if you live in one of those areas where such products are hard to find. I have the original broadcast sheet. The paint is a clear coat/base coat version of the original Racing Green. There are a few minor flaws in the paint, but nothing noteworthy. New Legendary interior seat covers were used on the front and rear seats. The following items were professionally restored/reconditioned: Thumbwheel AM radio (now updated with digital electronics to allow for FM stereo and an AUX input) Dashboard trim and gauges (including TIC-TOC-TAC) were professionally restored and reconditioned and function properly Wood-grain steering wheel was professionally restored Rear taillights and bezels were professionally re-chromed 3-speed Wiper Motor was professionally rebuilt/restored The following items were updated with high-quality restoration pieces: Long-mast antenna Console trim Rally wheels (include over-sized 60 series tires in rear) Front and rear bumpers Flip-up NASCAR-style gas cap Red-line spare tire and wheel, powder-coated jack components Red cap battery, Optima-style, gas-free components (no acid) I wanted this car to look just as it did the day it rolled off of the assembly line some 43 years ago. While this car is not 100-point, concourse ready, it is very, very close. It runs and drives exceptionally. All lights and accessories operate perfectly. The front seats have been recovered and re-padded. A 3-point seat belt system was added for safety. You'll love driving the car at night as the glow of the dash lights set off the detail work performed on the instrument panel. And yes, the TIC-TOC-TACH and radio have been updated with new electronics that will allow you to keep perfect time and pick up stations in Munich on a clear day! Whether you want to drive it daily or trailer it to a show, you won't be disappointed! No job is complete without obtaining original-style hardware and brackets (for the alternator and such). The transmission has been updated with a firm shift-kit. The rear end has all new posi-traction/limited slip components and the axles have the modern, sealed bearings. All steering components are solid and the car drives straight. The tires have very minimal wear. Again, I could go on and on. I've tried to list any discrepancies as accurately as possible above, but feel free to ask me a question if there is an item that I have neglected to address to your satisfaction. I'd like for you to be as happy as I've been with the car. As stated above, I have a bad habit of changing my mind about whether to sell this car or not, so act quickly before I reconsider. I do have this car listed locally for sale, so I reserve the right to end the auction early if the Buy It Now price is not met. On Oct-27-13 at 15:32:03 PDT, seller added the following information: CORRECTION TO CONDITION ABOVE: The rust bubble I mentioned above is actually in front of the lower part of the left rear wheel well. There is also one very small one in the same spot on the right side. I tried to capture the left side in one of the last pictures. The spot has been that way since 2005 when I purchased the car and has never gotten worse since I've always kept it in a garage with a de-humidifier.
