Vehicle Detail

Motor: (I have receipts for almost all of these modifications and will provide them to the buyer.) -400 Small Block bored 30 over (406.7 CI) -Long Rod build with 6 inch Eagle II Rods and ARP rod bolts -Keith Black Hypereutectic Aluminum Flat top Pistons -Albert & Childs chrome rings/zero gap rings -Heads are somewhat stock 2.02/1.60s with aluminum roller rockers, hardened pushrods, and anti-pump up lifters. -Final Compression Ratio: 10.25:1 -Rotating Assembly was all balanced -Mild/moderate street cam from Comp Cams, lift is .510 and I have the cam spec card for more info. -Headman Headers -Dual plane aluminum intake -Accel Blueprint Electronic Distributor -Carb was some Holley 650 vac/secondary we had laying around the shop. -Cooling: Aluminum Radiator, Oil cooler, and 7 quart Moroso oil pan. Drivetrain: -TCI Stall Converter @3000 rpm -Aluminum Powerglide 2 speed with Transmission break -Aggressive manual valve body -Hardened input shaft (after twisting the first one in half) -Heavy duty U-joints -Ford 9 or 8.8 (I’m not sure) Rear end with Posi 3:73 gearing -Installed Bucket seats for Hurst Shifter, Transmission break operated from button on top. Chassis Modifications: -Competition Engineering Chassis braces (connects front frame to rear frame since these old Novas had a Unibody, and moves the leaf spring hangers inward a bit) -Competition Engineering rear leave spring hangers (moves rear leaf spring hangers inward 2 inches allowing for bigger tire if wheel wells are cut out)Current Condition and ProblemsThe car is a clean-up project for sure. I wish I had time to clean it better before selling but I don’t. There is a short somewhere requiring the battery to be disconnected when parked. It’s likely something simple but I don’t have the time to figure it out. The body is in pretty good shape except for a few small cancer spots at the lower doors. Also, it was hit in the left rear corner once. The body has been straightened mostly but there is a small piece of chrome trim missing from that spot. The transmission was built for racing with a very aggressive manual valve body and if a buyer is planning to race it or drive around town a lot it will need a rebuild soon. A less aggressive manual valve body would be a better choice for street use. Bucket seats installed in front to make room for Hurst shifter are worn and need to be recovered, interior generally not in great shape. The motor is probably the best thing about the car. It could definitely use better heads/intake/carb (at least a bigger carb) to really make it come alive. We invested more in the bottom end and planned to upgrade the rest later. Overall it is definitely a clean-up project but it’s not a bad place to start.History I purchased the car in 1998 and most of the above modifications were done between 1998 and 2001. I am not sure how many owners the car had before me. I went to away to college in 2001 and left the car with my father, who left it sitting in his front yard. He lives in Carlsbad, NM which is pretty dry desert. The nice paint job was literally sand blasted and the interior took a beating as well. My father is a High School teacher, and is also friends with the Auto shop teacher. Last year he let the auto shop teacher pick the car up, and the students did a lot of work on it. They removed the gas tank and cleaned it out, kitted the carb, and did some work on the front end. They replaced a lot of bushings and parts in the front end, and did a break job. They removed the steering wheel to install a new turn signal switch and didn't put the wheel back on straight, which is slightly annoying but only cosmetic. They also installed the Ford rear-end described above along with the Competition Engineering chassis braces and leaf spring hangers. After this, I decided to go pick it up and have had it here in Plano for the last year.
