Vehicle Detail
This is a re- listing of my Vintage 1963 Chrysler 300 Convertible 2-Door. VIN number is 8233219812. Car currently has about 91,300 miles showing on the odometer, but it will be going higher as I take this car out for rides a couple of times a week. This is a highly sought after collectible car that gets a lot of attention wherever it goes. Color is black with b&w interior and black convertible top. Car is completely drive-able, fun and can be driven and used the way it is, but really should be properly restored to obtain its highest collectible value. I bought this car with the intention of completing the restoration, but now find that I will not have enough room in my garage to do it. Winter is coming and I don't want to leave it parked outside in the cold weather. This model has a 383 cu.in. V-8 with the 3-speed push-button automatic transmission. The transmission currently shifts as it should. Engine runs OK. Motor should be given a proper going over and tune-up by someone more knowledgeable about engines than me. The 383 cu.in. engine block serial number is 2128854, DN L.L. Coolant system works fine and the engine runs cool even on hot days in bumper to bumper traffic.. Convertible soft top is electric and works fine. Interior is fair and clean but needs a few cosmetic items that probably went missing over the years. There is no rust in the engine areas or wheel wells in the engine area. Rocker panels seem to be pretty solid but do have surface rust. As you can see in the photos, the interior vinyl is not all original. Back seat is faded and probably original, but front seat vinyls are not original. Sun visor seams are split and should be repaired or replaced. Floor panels should all be replaced, as there are some rusted thru areas in each. Perhaps these can be merely patched, but I think it best that all 4 floor panels be replaced as they are not expensive and are readily available for this car. Both the front and rear suspension need a little work. The shocks seem unbalanced, which probably means that all 4 need to be replaced. Additionally, all suspension bushings are are dried up and worn out, which means that the steering is presently very sloppy. Steering box may have a lot of wear too, but this is also something that can be either rebuilt or replaced with an available rebuilt unit if need be. All 4 wheels are aluminum alloy and are not original, but I do have the original hubcaps that go with the car. All 4 tires and aluminum wheels are almost brand new. All the glass is excellent except for the front passenger window which has a small crack but is still operates fine. Radio and fuel gage are presently not working. All lights work fine. Brakes work fine too. Exterior body paint has some cracking in areas over fenders and shows a few small areas that have had some very minor repairs done over the years, but overall the bodywork looks pretty good. I don't think that the paint is original, but I could be wrong. Hood, front headlights and grill areas are in really nice original condition. Bumpers are fairly straight but should be re-chromed at some point. Overall, even with its flaws and areas that need to be restored, the car is still a looker and gets a ton of attention. Car is located in Andover, NJ 07821. I fully encourage all serious bidders to take time to come see and inspect this car prior to bidding. I will do my best to be available to answer questions as best I can and, to also be available to show the car in person. Winning bidder is required to pay a $500.00 deposit via Paypal within 24 hrs of auction end. Balance to be paid in cash at time of pickup, maximum 7 days from auction end. Again, this is a fully drive-able car right now, but really should be restored. NOTE: Car is currently insured with full coverage thru Hagerty Classic Car Insurance at a replacement value of $10K and is registered with historic plates. Cost of the yearly insurance premium is only $171.00. This signifies that the car does in fact have a current value of $10K or more in its present operating condition. Hagerty Classic Cars rates the current value of this car at $15,400.00 in its present condition. Fully restored these cars can be very valuable, especially this particular model, year and color scheme. The value of a fully restored car is over $40K. However, I am now thinking that it may be more fun to drive it as a rat rod and merely fix and/or repair only the small stuff. This is a low reserve auction. This car a real bargain for someone who knows the true value of this particular car. I have tried to accurately and honestly describe the condition of this car as best I can. Although most everything on the car works as it is supposed to, please know that this is a 50 year old car and is being sold AS-IS. Additionally, there are a few extra spare parts and things that I have that are included with the car. I also have the original cover for the convertible top when in the down position, but it is too worn out to use, however, it can still be used as a template guide to easily have a new cover made if desired. All arrangements to ship this car must be made by the buyer. I am unable to do this for you.
