Vehicle Detail

Original/un-restored CB450-K7 with only 830 original miles...! The CB450K7 was sold in 1974 in one of two colors: Candy Orange or Maxim Brown Metallic. The gas tank and side covers were the basic color (i.e., brown or orange). The gas tank badge "HONDA" was metal. The gas tank stripes were gold and black. The "450 DOHC" side cover emblem was white and red. The upper forks and headlight shell were black. There was a chrome grip pipe behind the seat. The front braking system used a hydraulic disc. The fork boots were black rubber. There was an independent speedometer, tachometer and headlight unit. The instruments were tilted toward the rider. There was an independent light housing added between the speedometer and tachometer. The fenders were chrome. The mufflers were megaphone-shaped. The engine was a 444cc DOHC parallel twin with dual CV carburetors. The transmission was a 5-speed. The serial number began CB450-7000001. 1974 was the last year Honda produced the DOHC Parallel Twin CB450. I doubt you will ever see another original example of this year, make & model for sale on the open market. Everything on this motorcycle is original (except as noted) down to the Dunlop Gold Seal "Safety" tires which, of course, have age-hardened over the years but show no visible signs of cracking on the sidewalls. This CB450K7 is very clean for its age however there are scuff marks on the handlebar & wheels where the previous owner was a bit over zealous with his polishing efforts. The scuffing is minor and in my opinion, nicely compliments the patina of this 39 year old motorcycle. Everything works as it should and true to Honda form...it does not leak oil. The front brake system has been serviced with a genuine Honda master re-build cylinder kit, genuine Honda brake hoses (2) and fresh brake fluid. The fuel petcock has been serviced with a new genuine Honda gasket kit. The carburetors have been removed, cleaned and serviced with genuine Honda gaskets. A new Yuasa battery was installed in 2012 along with NGK-B8ES spark plugs just for good measure. The engine oil has been drained and replaced with genuine 10W-40 Honda oil. As can be seen in a 6-minute YouTube video (1974 HONDA CB450 K7 ), this bike starts when cold with 1-2 kicks and almost instantaneously with the electric start button. The engine idles nicely and the throttle response is crisp. The transmission shifts properly up and down through the gears. The suspension feels good (by 1974 standards) and the brakes do a good job of hauling the bike down from speed. Also included with this sale is a clear Indiana title, original CB450 owner's manual and factory tool kit. You can take solace in the fact this motorcycle will continue to appreciate in value as time marches on or...simply ride it as-is. Either way the choice is yours as the next steward of this unique piece of motorcycling history. Additional high resolution pictures are available upon request.
