Vehicle Detail

This classic Volvo wagon is my mother's car. She bought it new in 1998. It's been garage-kept, well maintained and is in excellent condition. It has only 82,000 miles, clocked on by its single female owner. It is absolutely free of rust. We lovingly called it the "bourgeois-mobile", and indeed it has spent its life in a comfortable DC suburb transporting children & grandchildren about town. It has: * Heated seats * Fold-down third-row seats for children * All-wheel drive * Electric sunroof, windows and locks. * Roof rack We've replaced the timing chain, the ABS module, the front CV joints and made many other repairs. We have many, though not all, of the repair receipts. No one has smoked in the car. No accidents. The AC blows ice cold air. The analogue radio/cassette system is first class -- who needs CDs? The gas mileage is okay, though not stellar. Driven carefully you can get about 25mpg on the highway, maybe 19 in the city. It delivers a quiet, comfortable ride. I would have killed for a car like this in college. Everything in back folds down flat, so you can cram all your possessions into the car, or sleep comfortably in it. The car is now in Hollidaysburg, PA - about two hours from DC, 90 mins from Pittsburgh and three hours from Philadelphia. If you'd like to pick up the car, we can give you free overnight accommodation in a lovely old mansion in the centre of Hollidaysburg, a small town in the Allegheny Mountains. I've gone over the car carefully and taken care of most of the little problems. There are some small issues remaining: * I have not had time to get the car detailed. It's clean and handsome, but would look even better after a trip to the detailer. * The seatbelt retractors are a little slow (especially in the cold), and there are interior marks on the leather panels where people have tried to close the door on the buckle (see pictures). * The power steering return hose has a slow leak. * We've replaced the electronic module that controls both the ABS and the cruise control. The cruise control system has power, but still needs a switch replaced before it will work. * The service reminder light is defective. This isn't a warning light, but is designed to remind you to go in for scheduled servicing. It comes on for two minutes when you start the car then goes off automatically. The published routine for non-dealers to turn the light off doesn't work, so the controlling switch will probably have to be replaced at the dealership. Or you could just leave it. * There are these little red safety lights on the bottom interior of each door, which turn on when the door is open. The light on the right front passenger door is missing. On Sep-20-13 at 07:05:57 PDT, seller added the following information: Hi again. To answer a couple of questions ... 1) There's definitely no lien on this car. 2) There are some additional photos with better views of the front here: On Sep-26-13 at 09:25:32 PDT, seller added the following information: In response to queries, I took some pics of the tires and the engine. In the process I discovered a couple minor issues, and confirmed a non-problem: * There's no misalignment between the steering wheel and the tires. The original photos were taken without the steering wheel in the lock position, because we tried (and failed) initially to get tread pictures of the front tires. That's why the wheel appears as if it is turning right, when the exterior pics we used show the wheels straight. * The rear tires have modest wear, while those in the front have virtually none. If you want to use these tires for a long time (they are Michelins), you may want to rotate the tires. * The interior panel under the steering wheel is a little bit loose. I don't see any damage. There may be a screw missing, but I can't find the hole for it. * When turning right while driving, the turn signal doesn't always cancel. When turning left, it always does. Here are the engine & tire pics: On Sep-26-13 at 21:52:32 PDT, seller added the following information: Updates: * I am scanning the repair records I have, and will post a link to them tomorrow afternoon. * I've blocked bidders with an eBay feedback score of 4 or lower. Sorry to have to do this -- the bidder who was winning the auction had zero eBay history, sent strange messages and was not forthcoming about who he was. If you are new to eBay and you'd really like the car, you can still contact me, but you'll need to provide verification details before I allow you to bid. On Sep-27-13 at 11:52:06 PDT, seller added the following information: I've put up the repair receipts here. Sorry they are not in chronological order. This is probably about 80% of the work that was done. There are a couple year's worth of receipts that have been lost: http://s302.photobucket.com/user/pristine2/slideshow/Volvo%20docs
