2005 Smart Car Fortwo PassionVIN: WME4503321J47629Single Owner - Low Mileage (24,630)THIS ITEM IS CURRENTLY LOCATED IN SAN DIEGO, CA 92109Please be aware that I will not end the listing early for a potential buyer. If you would like to make me an offer, please contact me, so that we can discuss that option further, but if you want the car, I strongly suggest that you place a bid. I am asking for a reasonable price for the car as a starting bid so I doubt that anyone is going to bid it up much more beyond the price beyond that. That said, this is a desirable model, in excellent condition with very few miles on it and I doubt there are many of them left out there in this kind of condition. Ebay will NOT let you purchase the car using paypal, nor would that be my preferred payment method were it acceptable, so you must be willing to pay me via direct deposit , check, or money order. (All forms of payment must clear the bank before the car will be released to you) I can be reached directly via telephone at: 8 five 8 - 4 zero 1- O five, five 4. (I prefer texts because of my work schedule but will try to answer if you call. ) This is immaculate, well running vehicle with very few minor cosmetic problems. In addition, I just had it checked out by a mechanic and it has no problems, it has recently been detailed and washed, and had the air pressure checked in the tires. I have kept very good care of the car, regularly changing its oil and checking tire pressure, charging the Air-con, etc. Its maintenance and insurance costs are extremely low and it gets great gas mileage. History: This 2005 model car was converted by G&K Auto Conversion in 2006. My parents purchased about 20 of these cars to resell and one came to me. I have been driving it since 2007. I know quite a lot about these cars as a result of having dealt with so many and this one is in exceptionally good condition: cosmetically it's in great shape and has no mechanical problems. It has a clear Arizona title and the Registration is up to date (I need to renew by the end of Aug). Interior: Excellent / Very Clean with no tears, stains or ripsOriginal Grundig Stereo SystemThe driver's side seat is a bit difficult to move back and forth, it probably just needs some wd-40Has the Tach & Clock Option, which is cool (see photos) Some slight superficial scratching in the trunk area (see photos)Additional equipment included: Trunk Cover (see photos) and I added a cup holder that did not come stock with the car ( I will even throw in my favorite cup to use in the car that fits perfectly into the holder). This car comes equipped with a Moon Roof (tinted glass roof). As part of the conversion process a headliner was installed over that but it could be removed fairly easily with a little bit of elbow grease and the correct solvent for the adhesive that was used to attach it. Exterior: Very Good, with a few very minor cosmetic problemsCobalt Blue panels with a Silver FrameVery small crack in the Driver's side rear tire panel (see photos)Small knick in Windshield, which happened when I drove it across country in 2009. I filled it with epoxy and it hasn't shown any signs of spreading (see photos)There is a small plastic piece behind the front bumper, I suppose you could call it a grille, that has sustained some minor damage. I don't mind replacing this piece, it will probably cost less than $50 to do so. New Tires (I will have to find it, but I also bought the equipment to change the tires, because the bolts have an odd size. I will include that as well, if you remind me). ** The tires are very inexpensive for this car but it helps to order them in advance since most shops don't carry something this small.Driver's side window has a bit of a loose seal. Every once in a while if you shut it with the door closed there will be a small gap (1/8" at most). It will almost always correct itself if you put the window down and then up again, or if you close it with the door open. I did have it checked out at one point but it is extremely minor (and hasn't gotten any worse over time) so I decided not to pay to have it corrected. Engine: Turbo charged 3 cylinder Engine, Governor: 85mph Mileage: 24,630Manufactured by Mercedes BenzIn Good working condition, with no leaks or problems of any kindAutomated Manual Transmission. - This car can be driven like an automatic if you press a button on the side of the shifter, or as a clutchless manual if you choose to do it yourself. It has 6 gears. Reason for Selling: I have enjoyed driving this car very much and hate to give it up. The reason I am selling it is because when the conversion took place G&K did not test it for California Conversion Standards so the car cannot ever be registered here in California. There are only two tests, one for CA, and one for the other 49 states, so if you live anywhere else in the country, you will have not problem getting it registered. It did pass the CA emissions test in 2009 (I did not know about this issue before I had it tested.) Since then, I have been registering it in AZ. I would discourage anyone from CA from bidding on or buying the car for this reason. Information about Gray Market Smarts: One of the things that you should be aware of when buying a gray market car, is that its much more difficult to find parts when they need to be replaced. That said, I have several good contacts, one in Canada and one in England, that can get the parts to you in around 3-5 days. I also know a mechanic in Kansas City that is very willing to help anyone that calls in with questions about the car or how to fix something. This car is pretty easy to do a lot of the small doityourself type jobs, for example, I have charged my own air conditioner in the past. There are a couple of web forums that have detailed most of those operations in video format. The Mercedes dealership will be able to help with small things like getting your keys reprogrammed, etc, but generally won't want to do anything too involved. In any case, I will type out a list of contacts and helpful hints for owning a Mercedes Smart in the USA and include it with the car. Payment and Shipping: I will require that you send a Money Order/Cashier's Check/ or Wire Transfer to me at the time of sale. I will not accept Paypal for this type of transaction, and I have worked with Ebay for too long to be scammed so if you are looking for a chump, look elsewhere. I will not release the car until the money has cleared my bank account. Either you can come pick up the car, or I can facilitate a shipping company picking up the car. Depending on where you are the cost for shipping a car differs, so check around to several places because they may differ wildly in price. The Kerb weight is somewhere between 1,400-1,500 lbs. Also, be aware that if you plan to have the car towed, it must go onto a flatbed, if you tow it with a regular tow truck it will mess up the exhaust system.
