This 2003 Chevy Silverado Short Bed was totaled out by the previous owners Insurance Company and will be an easy repairable.
The truck has the popular 4.3L V6 that is a gas saver with automatic and 2wd.
The damage is to the rear although you will find some hail and overall scrapes & scratches that will be basic normal wear & tear for a truck this age. Pictures will show no major frame damage other than where bumper mounts, tail gate works fine and some damage to rear of cab.
This truck runs great and I can guarantee that because I purchased from Shelter Mutual Insurance on February 15th. 2013 and usually just buy and sell, no repairs, no driving other than a road test but I ran a few errands in this and I liked the way it drove and ended up putting 2,700 miles on it since then. The previous owner had just done an oil & filter change so I was able to see that it used no oil and just changed it again so you will start out as I did and it also had a full tank of gas from the previous owner so it will also have a full tank when you get it! I found no faluts with the drivability other than what would be expected from a 10 year old vehicle. The tires are 4 matching Michelin's(less than 50%) and I get a slight viberation in the arm rest at certin speeds like a tire out of round but not enough to care about. The miles are average for the year, about 14,000 per year. Everything works and air blows "ice cold". One thing you can see in the picture of the instrument cluster is that the speedo is buried on the other side and was like that when I got it as it will be when you get it, the odometer and cruise works fine.
The overall truck is in good shape with no rust and some hail as can be seen in pics. The hood has fewer but large, the roof has more but tiny. The windshield is good as are the air bags & belts. The jack & spare were also removed when I received it as it will be for you.
The color is "Dark Spiral Gray" kind of a neat color but hard to see in pics?
Interior is ok, no rips or tears just dirty, stained carpets as they were when I got it. Seats are very comfortable, power driver and both door glass are automatic down, kinda neat? Ice cold a/c and no odor from smoke or pets.
