Vehicle Detail
Selling my awesome 1973 "Hugger Orange" VW Thing. See it run and a little more detail on YOUTUBE ...: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eeZmZnD8XfE The car runs like a top...and I have done a couple recent fixes on it to increase its driving stability. I will first list some things that will eventually need to be done on the car from my perspective. 1. new floor pans...it is drivable and ok, but they are rusted out, and will need to replaced in 1 to 10 years depending on storage and what all you want to put into it. Though I never used it, the original canvas convertible top will need to be replaced. I believe the frame on it is o.k., but the top is old and has a few rips in it. A couple times when I had it out and the rain came suddenly, it did hold it off pretty good. 3. Some of the gadgets on the front dash need replaced. For example, the speedometer is not functioning, though I clocked myself going 65 to 70 mph. The hazards worked, but the button is loose. 4. If you want windshield wipers you will need to get some from the Thing shop or another VW supplier (I usually rode with the wind-shield down)...this was my favorite way to drive the Thing. Here are some things that I recently in the last year have done to The Thing: 1. Put a new coat of Hugger Orange on the exterior...not professional, but it sure does look good on the road. 2. New distributor. 3. Compression test (all for passed with flying colors). 4. New generator. 5. New fuel pump. 6. New fuel filter and fuel line. 7. New duck boards for the interior. 8. Installed a roll bar to feel a little more comfortable with my kids in the car. 9. Tune up with new Bosch lines and spark plugs. 10. Painted the rims orange, installing chrome beauty rings and chrome vw moon hub caps. 11. Installed new belt. 12. Installed beautiful new Artic Claw tires. 13. Had a new clutch installed. 14. Installed new batteryHeadlights work. Radio Works but buttons stick a bit. Turn Signals work. Window Skirts are in good shape and all for are there. They are black. I've invested a lot into this car, but I'm selling it due to the boat purchase I just made. The car runs great, and its a great car to tinker with as well... My family had a blast taking it out on the road for a cruises and date nights : )ut Auction is no reserve, but $500 deposit is required immediately to hold the car through Paypal. Full Payment and Pick-up needs to be within 4 days. Thanks for Looking!
