Vehicle Detail

1992 Volkswagen Corrado SLCCalifornia Clean Title in my name5 speed manual transmission188k miles on chassis~135k miles on engine History: I bought the car near Sacramento, CA in December 2008, and the car has been in the San Francisco Bay Area since. When I bought the car it had about 187k miles and a few problems including needing the timing chains to be done, so I decided to swap in a lower mileage motor. I took the opportunity to take care of all the mechanical issues the car had or would have soon. I thought I would keep the car for a while so I started to invest my time and money. Fast forward a few months and I started to go back to school and the car project was put on hold. I just recently had a chance to finish the car and here we are! I have receipts for a lot of repair parts that I installed myself. All the usual Corrado problems are not present on this car as the sunroof works, the wing works, the heater core has been replaced, the door handle strikers have been replaced and much more. Below is a list of all work done to the car by me. Engine/Transmission:-3 Way Valve job and head decking, with new valve guides and stem seals-New head bolt set-New headgasket-New oil pan gasket-New Intake manifold gaskets (upper and lower), throttle body gasket-New valve cover gasket along with newer plastic valve cover -Serviced ISV-Serviced EGR to pass functionality check for CA smog test-Serviced EVAP/charcoal canister lines to pass functionality check for CA smog test-New front and Rear main seals-New dual row Timing Chain kit with new updated guides and tensioners-New accessory belt-New electric fan drive belt-New radiator fan switch-New coolant hoses (not all, replaced cracking hoses, etc), coolant reservoir, temperature sensors, thermostat, thermostat housing and crackpipe (coolant distribution pipe) with o-rings-Basically every o-ring and seal on the engine has been changed.-New Main Water pump with metal impeller-New distributor cap and rotor-New Bosch spark plugs (x6)-New Air filter, fuel filter, oil filter, oil, etc-No “check engine light” while car is on, nor were there any stored codes when I scanned it last.-Cruise Control (works) -Resurfaced Flywheel-New Clutch Kit (OEM Sachs) with pressure plate, clutch disc, throwout bearing, and guide tube-New clutch fork pivot ball-New Slave Cylinder-Serviced shifter box and cable assembly (tightened up) Suspension/Brakes:-Car has antilock brakes from the factory, and I’ve tested it to work. Also, the ABS light stays off-Car also has factory traction control, and it works.-Original BBS wheels 15x6.5” with bald tires-New brake pads all around-New VR6 front Strut mounts-Neuspeed Lowering Sport Springs, I believe a 1.3" drop on all four corners Exhaust:-New Bosch Oxygen sensor-Suitcase muffler delete (Corrados have two mufflers stock, and a common mod is to remove the front one)-Replaced old/broken exhaust hangers Exterior/Body/Interior:-Black exterior-Black leather interior-Power Windows (work)-Power mirrors (work)-Serviced passenger window motor and track system-Power slide & tilt sunroof (works)-Power spoiler (works)-Power locks/factory alarm (works)-Pioneer Stereo with what looks like aftermarket speakers all around-New door handle striker pins (common problem, lifetime warranty on new parts)-New Hood Release Cable-New gas cap-New heater core-New Duralast battery when I bought the car in 2008-Windows were tinted by the previous owner, the passenger side tint got damaged when the track failed, but I repaired the track as I said earlier.-Body is nice for the age, has some dings THE BAD:-One of the speeds of the heater doesn’t work. AC doesn't work.-Needs tires (next owner should choose what tires they like) Corrados are getting harder and harder to find and I know the value of these cars are only going up. I’ve invested well more than I am listing the car at and have receipts for a lot of parts as I've done the majority of repairs myself. I need to sell the car to pay for school. Since the car is registered as non-operational, you can either get a day pass to drive it, have it transported/towed, or you could pay for 2014 tags and drive it away with no problems! The car DOES run and drive, it’s just that I don’t drive it so I didn’t want to register and insure it. The above description is the condition of the vehicle to the best of my knowledge. There is no warranty implied or otherwise and all sales are final. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. All 4 center caps included, and car does have rear VW emblem. ------UPDATE 07/16/2013------ I have now fixed the shifter alignment on the car and it shifts nice (took it off 'the bad' list)!
