Vehicle Detail
2006 APS Twin Turbo, 6M, Cyclone Gray GTO with less than 25,000 miles Clean title in hand. Ready to go. Hate to sell, but the garage is full! Excellent condition - currently in Minnesota, but has never seen Winter, snow, or salt. First owner was in California (first 7,300 miles). Second owner was in North Carolina (next 4,400 miles). I'm the third owner (since Aug. '10) and have added the last 13,xxx miles. This car drives beautifully and I actually drove it for a Summer of business highway travel where it would average 26-28 mpg! For normal commuting or highway excursions, it is extremely comfortable, quiet, and a pleasure to drive. However, when you get into the throttle and hear the turbos wind up and the valves in the Dynomax VT mufflers open, the performance and sounds are incredible! There is certainly more performance available (at least to the limits of the stock LS2), but this boost level and tune is perfect for a high performance daily driver. The electronic boost controller and methanol injection system provide great tune flexibility and fail-safe engine protection. Very clean, stock appearance, but with many significant performance modifications as follows: Engine: Stock LS2 - never disassembled APS Twin Turbo System (if you're not familiar with this well engineered system, check out: http://www.airpowersystems.com/ls1/us_gto.htm 559 rwhp/552 rwtq on 7 lb boost, 91 octane tune (tuned without water or methanol injection) Tune by Mayhem Motorsports - Raleigh, NC Turbo XS D-Tec Boost Controller w/ shift light & knock sensor Aquamist HFS-5 Water/Methanol Injection (tank is mounted in the trunk, pump is in the spare tire well, and the lines and nozzles are hidden) Lingenfelter Performance Engineering (LPE) fuel pump 60# fuel injectors Comp Cams Valve Springs NGK TR6 spark plugs Elite Engineering catch can Gutted OEM air filter housing (appears stock) Fuel rail covers are custom painted (Cyclone Gray) BMR skid plate Clutch/Driveline/Brakes: Monster Level 3 clutch Stock clutch included if desired (10,000 miles and in good condition) GForce Anti-Wheel Hop axle kitARP rear wheel studs Stoptech stainless steel braided brake lines Exhaust: Custom built 3" exhaust with H-pipe and Dynomax VT mufflers in the '04 position (great "sleeper" sound and zero drone) Spintech Pro Shoot-Out mufflers in the '05-'06 position (these act as resonators and take the "rasp" off of the heavy throttle music) Spintech double-wall polished stainless steel tips No catalytic converters Stock cat-back exhaust included if desired - mounts up directly to the APS polished stainless steel mid pipes Suspension: Pedders 3/8" front and 1/2" rear lowering springs Pedders cross member, radius rod, & differential housing bushings Hotchkis swaybars Koni adjustable struts & shocks Stance is perfect. The adjustable Koni's allow you dial-in the desired ride (street to road course to autocross) with the turn of a knob. If you would like to contact me through Ebay, I will be pleased to get back to you via phone or email. I will be happy to work with your shipper and make certain the car is loaded carefully with no damage. Please note that the last four pictures are from the APS website. They are not photos of the actual engine in this car. I've included them for reference of the turbo kit's great layout and design since you really can't see anything from above on the car. Thanks for considering this beautiful GTO! Doug Thanks for all of the interest in the GTO! I've had many questions on similar topics so I thought I would cover them here:Is there a lien on the title? No, I have the title here and there is no lien. The Minnesota title is ready for transfer to the new owner. Can I drive it 500, 1,000, or 1,500 miles home? Absolutely. I drove from NC to Minnesota when I bought it and have made several long highway trips since. It is an awesome highway cruiser. I would highly recommend that you fly in and drive home! Cold AC, those incredible GTO seats, and a great sound system make for a very enjoyable ride. What tires are on it now? Michelin Pilot Sport PS2's in the front and General Exclaim UHP's in the rear. I had the wider Generals so I used them with the widened rear wheels. All four are in great shape with plenty of tread. I picked up the new tires (that come with the car) because it bothers me that the current tires are not a matched set, but they aren't worn enough to justify mounting the new ones yet. I'll either mount them or provide them loose for the new owner.Do you need to run the methanol injection? No. The water/meth injection is not in the tune. If you wanted to turn up the boost and get more aggressive with the tune, the meth system could be used for increased detonation resistance, cooler IAT's, etc. - and, of course, more power! It is currently functional and can be turned on and off via the gauge interface on the dash bezel. The flow rate is tied to the boost and is indicated on the gauge using a signal from a flow meter. I have some "Boost Juice" (50/50 meth/water) in the tank at the moment. What do you run for gas? It is tuned for 91. I found a local source for 93 so I've been running it. However, 91 runs fine. The knock light will let you know if it's unhappy with the fuel. Why was the original clutch changed if it was in good condition? The original owner ran the stock clutch. Its good condition is a decent indication that he never ran the car hard. The second owner installed the Monster Level 3 clutch. At this power level, the life of the stock clutch would be compromised, so he stepped up to the Monster. It feels bulletproof. The stock clutch can go with the car if you would like it.How is the Monster clutch for a daily driver? No problem. It has a heavier pedal than stock, but I don't notice it unless I've just driven something with an OEM clutch. Does the shfter rattle? I've heard complaints about the GMM "race" shifter being noisy too. This one is silent. No issues and the feel is excellent.Does it ride harsh on the Pedders suspension? Not at all. It is a firm ride, but very comfortable. I have the Koni's set at full soft and the ride is great. You can adjust the shocks to your preference or driving "activities."Do the valves in the mufflers rattle? I've heard about this too. No rattle with these. The idle is smooth with the stock cam and I would imagine that the turbos probably help smooth out any exhaust pulses at idle.Which G-Force Anti-Wheel Hop Kit is it? It's the Level 1, single, large diameter half shaft kit. I have the original half shaft as well.Trades? Sorry - I'm looking to make some space in the garage and am not looking for trades. Please keep the questions coming... Thanks, Doug
