Vehicle Detail
1969 AMC, Javelin SST -- 290cid, 2 bbl -- 3 spd Automatic, Column Shifter -- Pompeii Yellow VIN: A9A797M315957Please take the time to read everything and please visit the links below to see the video and before and after photos. Hello,I am selling my '69 Jav, it is currently all up to date with registration and has a clear California Title, and I am the third owner. My brother and I have purchased and sold several AMC's and other classic cars over the years, and the reason why I am selling, is because I only have room for one project at a time and now I would like to move on to the next. I purchased it from a local California AMC enthusiast in May of 2012, who was about to sell his home and was making room for the move. This is what I was told from the gentleman I purchased the car from; He purchased it from the original owner back in 2008, and at that time it had been stored indoors for many years (since ±1995), and continued to sit in under roof storage through 2012 as a non-operational vehicle; however, always ran and was started now and again, and never left California. I was also told that the entire car and all mechanical are original, and that neither the engine nor transmission has ever been out of the car. The original owner purchased it from a dealer in the Sacramento, California area in early 1971, hence the blue CA license plates which are the original plates that I had refurbished. I do have a color photo copy of the original pink slip with date issued 04/22/1971. Unfortunately I have no idea what the actual mileage driven is for this car; the Odometer is working and currently reads ±1,600 miles. Please keep in mind that this car is a driver, and with all intentions that it can be driven anytime and even every day, without cringing should a rock put a chip in the paint (I would personally rate the current body and paint 8 out of 10). In the last 12 months I have put about 1,000 miles on the car, and the farthest I have driven was about 40 miles each way, with no issues. This car has zero vibrating and no rattles, and is straight as an arrow on the highway. I did place after market adjustable air shock absorbers in the rear, with air lines to an air valve hidden behind the rear license plate so that the height of the rear end can be adjusted very easily. This was done because, of new larger wheels and tires, I was rubbing the fenders with 3 people in the car. Also, I installed the front, under bumper, spoiler because I like it; it is not original to the car nor correct for the year; however, it is very easy to remove and return to the stock look. The paint was color matched to the original Pompeii Yellow stock color for this car. Below is the list of what has been done to the car and new items purchased since I have owned it, and please visit the links below for the before and after photos and video of this mild restoration over the last year. Both bumpers are original and have never been repaired or re-chromed; however, there is currently a dent in each bumper, which may be difficult to see from the photos and the previous owner installed the front and rear seat covers over the original seats. The passenger side front window glass has been replaced at some point; the rest of the glass on the car is original with the California tinted glass option upon original purchase.
