Vehicle Detail

I'm posting this for my Grandfather who has decided its time to get rid of his second bike. It is a 1976 Triumph Bonneville T140 that is in great shape for its age. It is in orginal condition and it hasn't been chopped or altered aside from the exhaust mufflers, which I will explain in a bit. He bought the bike 7 years ago in running condition but it needed quite a bit of TLC and work. He is a motorcycle machanic (was a certified Honda motorcyle mechanic back in the 70's and 80's) who would work on Triumphs at the dealership he worked at, so he is very good with older bikes and very meticulous about his work. He got the bike running and riding great. I personally rode the bike when I was in high school and can personally say it is a truly wonderful machine. If you have ever ridden one, you'll know that there is nothing like the sound or feel of an old Triumph. With that said, I must mention the fact that it is an old British motorcycle. It will require your love and care to keep it in top shape. It also DOES NOT have electric start. You'll need some good ol'fashioned leg power to start it. Ok, so enough with the basics. I'll explain it a little more in detail. The paint on the tank was freshly repainted before he bought it, so it still looks very nice. Whoever did it knew what they were doing, as you can see in the pictures. Nearly everything on the bike is original minus a couple of minor things. The center tank badge, the right side decal are replacements and the mirrors are aftermarket. It even has the original factory sticker on the speedometer. The mufflers are the originals but were altered by my grandpa to make them a little louder. He even designed them so that you can remove the inner part of them and make them even louder. But they sound very good they way they are. After he did the work to them, he had them ceramic coated, which is why they have a more dull appearance. He couldn't find a shop to chrome them at the time. The front brake line and pads are new, as well as the rear. The rear caliper has been rebuilt also. Both tires are nearly new Dunlop Gold Seal K70's, which are just like the original tires that came on these bikes new. These have only about 400 miles on them. The seat has also been re-upholstered and the original Triumph print logo on the back was sewed into the new one. This bike really is a gem. He has always taken care of it and it has never been stored outside. It rides great and sounds even better. It is not a restoration, so it doesn't look brand new. It does however look like a very well maintained, original Bonneville. It would make a great bike for someone who already has a British bike collection or is looking to start one. Price is firm. Local pickup only or buyer arranges shipping. If you have an questions about anything I didn't answer, feel free to email me. Thanks for looking.
