Vehicle Detail
Up for bid is a 1998 Ford Ranger. I am a non-smoker. This unit is complete and has a clear title. I have owned this truck for a little less than two years and use it to commute to work almost every day, 30 miles each way. Sadly, the transmission is giving me trouble and I have decided to move on and purchase a newer vehicle and that is my only reason for selling. I had the transmission serviced on July 3, 2013 (new filter, gasket, and fluid) but unfortunately this did not not remedy the problem. Transmission simply will not shift into high gear. My mechanic told me that there was evidence of excessive wear and that the transmission would most likely have to be replaced. I told my mechanic to just put it back together. The truck does have current PA Inspection and runs fine. There are many new parts on the truck. Original owners manuals included. New Parts (less than 90 days old) Exhaust system installed by Midas. New battery and alternator. New heavy duty shocks in rear. Good words: This truck is not some leaky rusted bucket of bolts. Its in very good shape considering age and mileage. The truck starts up every time and does not leak or burn oil. It gets 20 mpg consistently. Steering does not pull. Brakes are good. AC works good. All lights and signals function properly. All glass is good. Body in relatively good shape, no rust. Locks up tight. The truck has always had regular routine maintenance. The tires hold air just fine but are obviously not new. The timing belt was replaced at approximately 125,000 miles. Some steering parts were replaced. There's a liner in the bed and it is in good shape. The truck is driveable but obviously no long term guarantee here. I used this truck for commuting to work and rarely carried more than my lunchbox in the back. I personally never overloaded it. Has trailer hookup receiver and standard 4 prong light plug. “Quirks” include: Temperature gauge pegs and indicates overheating but it is the gauge that is broken and truck runs cool as it should. There's a small tear in driver seat near the hinge. The passenger door key lock sticks sometimes. There's a dent in the lower part of the passenger door where I scraped a low wall. My friend pulled the dent out but you can still see the scrape mark. (see picture) If you have the means to replace the transmission, you'll have a nice little truck for a very low price. Its definitely worth the asking price. Sold as is where is but guaranteed to be as described and not some ripoff deal. Thanks for looking!
