As you may know, the TR8’s are rare Triumphs, and the collectors are grabbing them up and locking them away. They are destined to be rapidly appreciating investments and can be yours now. Here are all the details of this great sports car. This TR8 was purchased new in Maryland and then bought by the President of the Central Pennsylvania Triumph Club and kept in Mid State PA. in mint condition until 1989. Then it was purchased by another member of the Triumph Club who moved to Butler, PA. In 2004 he changed the regular tags to Classic (see retitled photo) and those tags are still on the vehicle. It had only accumulated 51,844 miles on the clock then but has been with that owner for a total of 24 years until sold to me. It now has a total of 76,300 miles on the clock, so it was driven monthly but less than 1,500 miles per year. This 76K driven miles is better than a low mileage car that sits in a garage without being driven… I take it to shows so that mileage may be slightly higher when sold. It is always a plus to have lots of receipts but unfortunately there are very few receipts as the owner did not keep them or save new ones as purchases were made. However with that said, the condition of the vehicle really reflects all that work and money that has been put into it. It has always been in a garage and has Zero rust The work that has been done over several years on this TR8 is as follows: 4.0L Rover engine with 4.6L heads, Isky cam, Edelbrock manifold and 390 Holley carb, Woody's headers and new dual exhaust system. It has an almost new vinyl top and the boot cover is original and in like new condition. The zipper on the plastic window is not functioning but has Velcro to hold it in place. Comes with the factory 5 speed gearbox and even with the engine upgrades the car is remarkably quiet and will cruise all day at around 22 MPG on a highway run. Has a new battery and battery box with a quick disconnect on the ground terminal. The A/C works well, was converted to R134, blows cold and is still with the original compressor and condenser. The Power steering is in perfect working condition. The original rear luggage rack is not mounted but is in good condition and comes with the car. It was removed to add a rear spoiler that really works to hold the car down on the road. Also included is a like new Triumph TR8 front Bra. Panasport Minilite wheels were purchased which really shows off the car beautifully. The spare tire is original along with original jack and wrench. The tires are Continental triathlon P185-70R13 with very few miles on them. The factory alloys along with the spare tire are also included. The interior door panels, back panel and console were redone in grey and seat cushions replaced and reupholstered in the original Triumph black nylon broadcloth used thru 1981 in the USA. New real Sheepskins covers bought over from England are included with the buy now price. The added electric antenna works automatically when the original Realistic Hi-Power Stereo cassette radio is turned on. The radio has Optimus speakers, two on the rear shelf and one in each door. Great sound. A new power steering rack was installed, new poly bushings underneath to the suspension points and an anti-dive kit added to the front sway bar. When swapping out the steering rack, the hydraulic master and slave cylinder were replaced for the clutch. Both front and rear brake systems were redone along with replacing the original fluid with DOT 5 silicone. The ignition was upgraded to a Crane XR3000 system and has just had a complete tune up, wheel alignment and oil change. The original paint was a faded Midas gold but the like new Factory TR8 color of Bordeaux Red Metallic is a handsome looking color for this model and shows off the interior and minilite wheels beautifully. The car including the black bumpers have been regularly waxed with Meguiars NXT Tech Wax 2.0. It is the best and greatest wax on the market. So this TR8 is spotless with no dents, marks or scratches and is ready to drive across the Country if you wish. All electrics work well including the clock but the fuel gauge starting acting up just as I placed this ad. It currently shows empty even when full. A test voltmeter displayed a reading of 5 amps at the fuel sending unit so I’m expecting it to be the gauge itself or a loose wire behind the dash (Lovely Lucas electrics). I will have it looked at this week to try and find the remedy. The original speedo was changed out for a 140 MPH speedo from the crazy 80MPH original, converting the swap with the exact mileage between old and new. So the mileage is indeed accurate. If you would like to bring the car back to factory spec, the original 3.5L engine block and alloy heads go with the sale if it reaches the “buy now” price. You can swap out the block and heads and it will be returned to original condition. The compression taken on the original engine before it was removed was by cylinder………. #1. 133 #2 135 #3 132 #4 125 #5 124 #6 124 #7 105 #8 133. Also comes with two sets of keys, the original driver’s and maintenance manual, workshop manual, restoration book and a box of spare stuff. Yes again Zero rust, never damaged or wrecked and it runs really really strong. Pennsylvania State Inspection thru May 2014. If you add up the list above, this TR8 has had over $14,000 worth of work done to it.....this is a real opportunity to own a fun, spirited rare car for a reasonable price, that is ready to go anywhere.
