Vehicle Detail

You are looking at a 1964 Studebaker Grand Tourismo Hawk. It is powered by what I believe to be the original 289 V8 and automatic transmission. I don’t know much about the car as I just got it but I will describe it the best I can. I have an open Indiana title in the previous owner’s name that was issued in 2009 and shows that the car had 41,900 actual miles. The odometer shows 41,907 miles now. The car was last registered in 2009, but the tags that were on it were from 2007, so it’s been off the road for awhile. The car is located in the north suburbs of Cincinnati, Ohio. Exterior: I was told the car was being restored but was not quite finished. It was painted and looks pretty good, but there is some overspray on some of the trim and on some of the wiring under the hood as you can see in the pictures. There are a few small spots of surface rust at the bottom of the rockers and on a few various other spots, 1 small bubble on the passenger door. I’ve also noticed a couple spots were there is some body filler in it. I’d say the overall condition of the paint job is a 7.5 out of 10 or very, very good driver condition. There is some pitting on the exterior trim, mirrors, bumpers, and grill. I don’t see a single missing piece of trim on the car with the exception of the antenna. The S came out of the hood ornament but the S is not missing, it’s in a box of parts that is included with the car. It is also missing a piece of glass trim from the top of the passenger fender, but a brand new one is included. All of the windows rollup and down as they should and all of the glass is nice. Interior: The interior looks almost brand new. It looks like there was a repair done to the top of the passenger seat that you can see in the photos. The head liner, sun visors, back seat, carpet, and seat belts all look brand new and there are no cracks in the dash. Suspension: All of the suspension seems to be in good shape and rides nice and smooth. The tires looked to be almost brand new, but there is a little clear coat overspray on them that seems like it will come off. The brakes work very well. The floors and trunk pans look to be in great shape. Engine: The engine seems to run ok. It was a Holley 650 CFM carb on it that I am sure is too big for the engine. The original Carter 4 barrel carb is included with the car, but needs to be rebuilt. This is a solid lifter engine, so there is a little ticking noise in the valve train which is normal. The fan will rub the fan shroud sometimes. All of the fluids look good. All of the belts and hoses look new. If the car sits for a while, you need to shoot a little starter fluid in it to get it started. I did notice the fuel pump has a small leak between the pump housing and the bowl. The battery hold down is missing. I also noticed that the radiator caps leaks a little. Things that are needed: The turn signals, brake lights, wipers, and all of the gauges do not work. The only gauge that works is the oil pressure. I have not looked to see why these items don’t work. It might be that these were not hooked back up after the restoration. I have noticed several wires in the engine bay and under the dash that are not hooked up and just lying loose. The blower and duct work for the heater are also missing too and the linkage for the fender vents is also missing. All in all, this is a very sold car and it is in mostly original condition. You could simply get the few odes and ends working and have an awesome driver, or it would be a great candidate for a restoration. Please let me know if you have any questions, and I’ll do my best to answer them. If you need a picture that you don’t see, let me know. This car is being sold as is, where is, and there are no warranties expressed or implied. The buyer is responsible for pickup/delivery. The winning bidder needs to contact me within 24hrs of the end of the auction.
