It has a finish that might seem like a trailer queen, but it's totally sorted and ready to enjoy. To put it bluntly, this is a great price on the high-quality rod you've been looking for. The F100 already looked like a custom when it rolled off the assembly line in 1956, so all that was required to take it to the next level were a few subtle tweaks. Up front there's a body-colored grille and a simple chrome bumper, while the emblems, door handles, and other extraneous trim were all shaved. A custom roll pan cleans up the rear, and please take a moment to admire how artfully the third brake light was stitched into the sheetmetal of the tailgate. Someone invested a ton of time in the steel body to get it straight, then shot it with bright turquoise paint to make a bold impact wherever it goes. The bed was filled with beautiful natural wood planks and bright stainless rub strips, so you can still use it as a pickup, but it also remains a thing of wonder when you pull onto the show field. Tilt the massive hood forward and watch the crowds form. The interior is pure simplicity, with a neat split bench wrapped in gray tweed and vinyl for a nice, neutral color scheme that works quite well with the bright turquoise paint. In addition to great looks, this one boasts just about every comfort and convenience feature you could want, ranging from A/C and power windows to a tilt column and custom instruments nestled into the original dash. Custom gray carpets were stitched to fit the cab floor perfectly and surround a neat shifter that looks circa 1956 but controls an automatic transmission from a late-model Thunderbird. Heck, there are even trick courtesy lights neatly integrated into the kick panels so it feels totally OEM. To preserve the clean factory dash, the Aiwa AM/FM/cassette stereo head unit was stashed in the glove box and powers speakers cleverly hidden throughout the cabin. If you aren't impressed yet, you need to take another look. The engine is a modest 272 cubic inch Y-block V8 that is right for the 1950s hauler. It's been rebuilt and modified for horsepower, including a stroker kit, reworked 351 heads, and a 4-barrel carburetor up top. The block was bathed in bright yellow paint for some contrast, and there's plenty of chrome to show off when you open the clamshell hood. A stainless firewall definitely ups the sparkle factor, and custom headers give the vintage Y-block a snarky voice. The front suspension is from a Dodge Dakota, so it rides, handles, and steers like a modern pickup, and out back a highly-sought 9-inch Versailles rear with disc brakes hangs on leaf springs. Air shocks fine tune the ride and load-bearing capacity and give it that in-the-weeds stance, augmented by polished American Racing wheels and 225/70/15 front and 275/60/15 rear performance radials. If you tried to build this truck yourself, you'd be upside-down before the paint was dry. Why not take this one home instead, since it represents perhaps the biggest bargain in any of our showrooms today.
