Vehicle Detail

1974 Triumph TR6 Magenta Convertible! Price reduced to $10,500 for a quick sale - need to take possession before end of July. For Sale is a great looking and running 1974 Triumph TR-6 in the original and rare Magenta color. This is my personal TR6 and has been in my care for 3 years (purchased 03/2010 in Jonesville, MI). The previous owner purchased in June 2005 and restored the interior. This car has been garage kept while in my care and has only seen water from an occasional washing. I performed regular maintenance and have made several improvements as noted below. I have only put 1500 additional miles on it from sunny afternoon drives in Kentucky. I am preparing to move and downsize my garage space so I need sell this great car and share the British car experience. To avoid wasting anyone's time I have put together a fairly complete description below. Please contact me with any additional questions or to arrange a test drive (we live just outside Louisville, KY). I previously sold another 1974 TR6 online (yes, I had a pair of them) to a purchaser who bought sight unseen and was very pleased with my honest and complete description and his purchase (the car was shipped to Wyoming). In 2012 this car won the Excellence Award at the Louisville, KY British Car Bash XXVIII. This was the third place award out of 14 TR5 and 6s. It looks and runs great. This detail is provided as verification that this is a great car. This TR was previously repainted (original magenta color) and both the body and paint are in great condition. The paint holds a nice shine as you can see in the pictures. Chrome is also in good condition and the frame was been previously undercoated as well. The car runs great and has a strong engine and transmission (no overdrive). It has the original dual Stromberg carburetor set-up. I am not aware of any engine or transmission overhaul work or issues. Minor improvements listed below. Wheels and trim rings are in good shape and brakes are all in great shape. Tires are Kumho Solus KH16 radials (P205/65 R15) with little wear and the spare is brand new and mounted on a matching triumph steel wheel. Comes with original jack, wrench and handbook. The interior was restored by the previous owner. New seats (and retractable seat belts), door panels, rear panels (bulkhead, quarter, wheel arch), dashboard top and carpet. Trunk liner is new but the light does not work. The dash veneer is in good condition but has a few chips (see picture - next to fuel gauge). All gauges, lights and switches work, except for the dash light rheostat. The blower does not work but all vents are present and operable (including the vents under the dash). The original radio has been replaced with a Sony unit (cassette) that has an anti-theft pull-out chassis if you want to remove to lock in the trunk. The black convertible top is in good condition and is watertight. It has a small patch above the driver and the front edge on the passenger side has a rough edge (see pictures). The back window zips in easily and all plastic is clear. A black tonneau cover and a black convertible top boot cover are included (all in great shape). Front windshield has some slight fogging on the lower passenger side. Improvements I have made include; a new fuel tank and sending unit, starter solenoid, Bosch battery, alternator, trunk liner and retractable seat belts. Replaced the trunk lock and the glove box lock. I have door locks that are keyed to the trunk lock but have not installed. Documented improvements the previous owners have made include: clutch master and slave (2005), rear shocks, right rear axle u-joints (2007), fuel pump (2007), interior restoration (2007), spin-on oil filter. Issues: This car is in exceptional condition but with older British cars it is not perfect so let me outline the things that I am aware of. Blower does not work but the heater controls do work. Speedometer is not accurate due to tire size and it bounces at higher speeds (I replaced the speedometer cable but it did not improve). The seat belt light and warning buzzer have been disabled. The dashboard light rheostat does not work. The convertible top has a patch and blemish as noted above. As with most TRs, there are a few minor oil leaks.
