Here is my neighbor's 1990 Grand Wagoneer #2...I sold one of his black ones last month, and soon the herd will be down to one! He dreams of someday being down to maybe eight vehicles instead of sixteen to twenty, but he does like to car shop....so we'll see how that turns out. This beautiful, rust free Grand Wagoneer was purchased new in Georgia, and later spent a short time in Naples, Florida, before returning to Washington, Georgia. There is ZERO rust, and the rocker panels and rear quarters are rock solid. Both the simulated wood rails AND the inserts are as unfaded as my personal 47,000 mile '87 GW, and the overall effect is very, very nice. The previous owner put an expensive contemporary CD/radio unit in the dash, and I don't have the correct original radio. I've been looking for one, but haven't found one that rings my bell. The dash was not cut to accomodate the new radio, fortunately. FACTORY floor mats are still with the vehicle, and the only one that shows any wear is the driver's...these are NOT some old replacement ones! The correct color-keyed, retractable cargo cover is still in place, also. The air conditioning blows ice cold like it is supposed to....none of the eBay nonsense that I see frequently in other auctions squawking "just needs a freon charge," or "just needs a belt...." The matched set of correct Firestone whitewall tires have less than 1,000 miles on them, and the spare appears to have never been down (I will remove it, clean it and inspect it before the vehicle goes to the new owner). The engine was rebuilt in August of 2006 and has traveled less than 2,000 miles since. There is a file of receipts with the vehicle that go back to when the vehicle had 3300 miles in 1991. Originally purchased at the famous Jasper Jeep in Jasper, Georgia, an hour north of Atlanta. The previous owner had the headliner replaced when the vehicle was in Naples (visors, too) and they still look like new. The current owner had the roof and hood repainted, along with the top of the tailgate, because when he had the car polished right after he purchased it in December of 2006, the shop man, in his efforts to remove acid rain spotting, went right down to the basecoat in several places; hence the new finish. Vehicle is just out of the shop this week at Lexington Automotive in Lexington, Georgia with new spark plugs, spark plug wires, air filter, wiper blades, oil change and filter, and wiper blades, along with a few other things to the tune of about $600. Since I seem to be going overboard to make certain that this beast is satisfactory to the new owner, I'll probably take it to our local genius dent wizard guy this week in Athens and spend maybe another $500 to make some door dings disappear that are bothering me. HAVE NO ILLUSIONS THAT THIS VEHICLE IS PERFECT! It is a beautiful, well cared for vehicle in a dream-color combination, but it IS twenty three years old. For a classic, elegant, Grand Wagoneer that is a no-apologies head turner, this might be just the one. A new Denali is okay, but for plain-old "mine is way cooler than yours," this is the winner.
