Up for auction is a 1961 Series II land Rover 88 inch wheel base. I am the second owner of this Land Rover; the first owner bought it new in 61 when he lived in Calif and used it for hunting trips to the Rockies. He cared for it until his death in 1985 where it sat in a garage until his son figured to restore it at the local Rover dealership in Las Vegas. He got caught up in a banking scheme and went bankrupt and could not pay for the work. I bought it from the dealership in 2010 and had it shipped east. When I got the Rover I added a Rover Drive overdrive, a high torque starter, some new seat cushions, a new generator, exhaust manifold, stainless steel exhaust system, and new carb, and swivel housing seals ( the swivel housings are perfect and not scored) as well as a slave cylinder for the clutch. I also changed from positive to negative earth. The car has also had from the dealership in Las Vegas, new brake drums, wheel cylinders, motor mounts, door seals, cowl vent seals, drive shafts, gas tank, and radiator. The vehicle drives as it should, the tranny does not jump out of any speed, and she does not overheat even on the hottest days. The heater works fine, as do both windshield wiper motors. It has the original paint, a tropical roof, and a factory capstan winch. It also comes with a complete set of 16 inch rims, and the original seat cushions and jump seat for the rear. The floor mats are original, but I have Rover North replacements I never used. This car is 52 years old, it has some leaks in the power train which are typical for Series Rovers; I top things up when she gets serviced and this has not been a problem. Note; there is absolutely no rust anywhere in the vehicle, not on the frame, or the bulkhead. All door locks work with the original key. The original tool kit is with the car as well as the owner’s manual. If you are looking for a classic Land Rover for a driver this may be it. I will answer any questions through Ebay.
