Vehicle Detail
1951 Ford F1 Five Star Deluxe half ton, short bed pickup with 24,338 original miles on 239 flathead V8 with three on the tree. Manufactured in the Highland Park plant now on the national historic registry. This was Ford’s “Million Dollar Cab” as the redesign from the 1948-1950 style included a bigger window, ash tray, glove box and turn signals costing Ford 1 million dollars to perfect…In 1950 dollars. We are the second owners of this mostly original little truck and the clear title is in our name. The farm we bought it from never drove it out of their county. Same is true for us. It’s an original ‘51 Black Plate California farm truck that we professionally upgraded with a Ford Cayman Blue metallic paint job, 12 volt generator and harness, new starter, stainless radiator pipes, Ford EFI, Mega Squirt EFI programmable tuner, Bosch performance electric fuel pump with quiet pack, Ford 9 inch rear for better highway cruising, new fuel tank, radiator, roller water pumps, transparent red ignition wires, stainless wire looms. The chassis, brakes, engine and trans are all original and maintained. This pickup saw a lot of show time at local farmers markets as terrific advertisement for our business. And is a kick to drive and show off. Always starts right up, never runs over 180 F even in the CA summers. High oil pressure at warm idle, no smoke, solid Flathead V8 horsepower with maintenance free performance EFI. We even have a complete spare EFI throttle body with injectors that goes with it. No cracks or chips in any of the glass. We replaced the glass gaskets when we painted it. There are a few pin holes in the floor that we addressed and removed the rubber mat but otherwise absolutely no active rust anywhere except the exhaust. It’s time for new exhaust pipes and we have the heater if you want to put it back in. Just don’t need the heat where we are. You’ll also need to replace the emergency brake cable. We replaced the running boards with fiberglass replacements. And removed the turn signals from the front fenders for a smoother look. We keep this garaged and need to catch up on our farm’s feed bill and property taxes. Currently registered as a daily driver. Time for someone else to enjoy this cool, original hot rod and take it any direction from here. Reserve is very reasonable.
