Vehicle Detail
Offered for sale here is a 1972 Honda CB350. This is an original, complete, low-mile bike that I recently purchased frm the second owner, who bought it slightly used somewhere between 1974 and 1976. The bike is not currently running. It has been sitting for about 23 years and will need a good going over. Previous owner rode the bike sparingly for a few years, but due to being an over-the-road truck driver he was not around to ride it enough and stored it away. His son got it running again in 1990 and rode it for a summer, and again it was stored away. That is where it sat until the owner recently decided to sell his home and everything had to be cleaned out. Current condition of the bike is as follows: This CB350 is complete and original. I did not notice any missing parts, incorrect hardware, improper repairs, or anything of that nature. It appears that this bike has never been taken apart, accessorized, or tampered with. Engine kicks over with good compression and has spark, but will need fuel system work before it will run. I have no doubt it would run with a good carb rebuild and tank cleaning. The throttles turn freely. I did not try to start the bike due to the inside of the tank being rusty. I hooked a battery to it and tested all the electronics. Engine turns over very well with electric starter. High and low beams, turn signals, and gauge lights all work. The horn is not working and I don't think the brake light was working. Clutch seems to work and transmission seems to shift through all gears. Brakes are functional. Tires are old, front does not leak at all but the rear tube is shot and will not hold any air. The bike rolls free and can be pushed around easily. As for the cosmetics, the pictures pretty much tell the story. Paint is all original and does not appear to be faded at all. The bike was never left in sunlight, it was stored away in a dark corner of an old shed. Tank is pretty nice on the outside, some light rust spots starting to come through the paint on the top. Inside of tank is rusty and varnished, will need a good cleaning and probably will need to be sealed. Tank does appear to be solid with no rust-through, as far as I can tell. I have cleaned tanks that were much worse than this one, it should come up OK if properly done. There is a small shallow dent on the left side of the tank, if you look you can see it in the pics. Chrome will clean up OK and is very shiny for the most part, but does have some rust pitting that won't polish out. Seat is in nice shape, gauges and headlight are excellent. Engine finish is corroded as you can see. Front fender has a dent on the top side. Mufflers appear to be solid, no holes. Bike looks really good from 10 feet away. Super low original miles! This would be a great bike to restore, which is what my intention was when I bought it. I am coming to terms, however, with the fact that I have way too many bikes that need work and not nearly enough time. I will probably be old and gray by the time I get done all the other restoration projects I am currently involved in, so I have decided to pass this one on to someone else who will hopefully appreciate this classic icon of motorcycling history. It would be a great around town or back road bike, fix it up and ride to local events and shows this summer. Original early '70s Hondas like this are becoming more and more scarce. As a collector, I would much prefer to buy one like this, that has never been touched by anyone else, than to buy one that somebody has had their hands on. This CB350 has a clear, transferrable New Jersey title. It is located in Souderton, PA 18964 and will need to be picked up at my location (can also be picked up in Boyertown, PA 19512). Buyer must pick the bike up or arrange shipping, I am more than happy to work with your shipper and help load the bike. Payment must be received and cleared before bike will be released. Non-refundable paypal deposit of $150 is due within 48 hours of auction end. Balance of payment due when bike is picked up. Payment of the balance in cash at time of pickup is preferred. Please contact me before bidding if this is not possible. This bike is sold as-is, where-is. Please ask any questions prior to bidding. Thank you!
